I am trying to use Foxit on an Acer 311 running WM5. I had never heard of Foxit before tonight (sorry) but Adobe Reader for Pocket PC ran so poorly on this (and maybe it's simply the wrong version to use) that I decided to look around.
Though the install was not as seamless as I'm used to, I got thru it, and was able to open some pdf files. Here's where I can't tell if I'm seeing a bug, or not, and if so, whose.
1. Maybe I just have to register the product to remove this pesky banner from the top of each page, could that be? It says Foxit and something about asking the manufacturer to pre-install it. But it covers the first line of the pdf, which is often actual words I would like to read. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Wouldn't I register on my desktop, anyway, and if so, how would that help the Acer?
2. The first PDF I tried was the Acer Manual, which had not gone thru a mobile conversion, because I transferred it before even installing Adobe. In Foxit, it certainly is readable, but looks funny. Can I assume this is the lack of a 'conversion'?
3. Since installing Adobe, any PDF I try to copy & paste from my desktop does go thru the conversion and often bombs out. This seems to be perhaps partly related to file size. 3.5mb (an 1100 page Dumas) crashed, for instance. Is the conversion necessary for plain old books? If not, how would I now stop this process? (I should add that these PDFs are all from the Mybebook.com web site, the freebie classics.) The ones which make it thru the conversion work in Foxit, but not in Adobe. Interesting, huh? The problem in Adobe was that they appeared to be in a mixture of Czech and simply a different character set. :)
Any tips would be really welcome. Also, sorry to be such a dunce. Thanks!
