View Full Version : Firefox/Foxit problem

I have two Windows computers, both running Firefox and the latest version of Foxit Reader, including the Firefox plug-in. On one, everything works pretty well. On the other, every time I try to open a PDF, I get the following error message: "This action cannot be completed because the 'fullapplication.pdf (application/pdf Object) - Mozilla Firefox' program is not responding. Choose 'switch to' and correct the problem." Sometimes the file loads just as a result of clicking on "switch to," and sometimes it doesn't. Even if it does load, I can't print a page from the document.
What's going on?

This is a known and reported issue. What's your operation system, If it's Visa, please try first the following method to see if it helps:
Right click on Foxit Reader exetuable program, and select 'Run as Admin'.

Thanks for your reply. This computer is indeed running Vista.
Where exactly do I click on "Foxit Reader [executable] program" to select "run as admin"? Can you be very specific?

For default installation, you should find Foxit Reader.exe under
Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\
or
Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\

I just uninstalled and reinstalled F.R. and the problem persists. There was no opportunity to select "run as adminstrator" during installation. I can do that once it's already installed, but this mode would seem to apply only to that particular session. Obviously it doesn't make sense to have to do that each time I want to open a file. And it might not have any effect on a PDF opened directly from Firefox via the plug-in, in any case.
