I have been using Foxit for a number of years under Windows and like it very much. In the last two years I have stopped using Windows in favour of Puppy Linux due to it's speed and stability. Recently I downloaded Foxit Beta 1.0 for Linux, although not as full featured as the Windows version it is very fast and smooth.

I have noticed that URL do not always work. Quite often they just load the text editor within Puppy Linux. The same situation occurs when you click on the link to the Foxit web site. This same situation also occurs when using the windows version of Foxit under Wine.

Everything else seems to work fine.

Thanks

Does this happen to all links in all pdf files?
Could you please make certain screen shots to show the problem?

Thanks in advance.

I am using Foxit for Windows on everyday basis at work as alternative to Adobe.

I have tried release for Linux and found it quite nice :1_11:. Few things which I lack comparing with Win32:
1) Unfortunately the fonts are too ugly, but still readable.
2) Hide/Show bookmark toolbar shortcut missing. I have to use the mouse.

Anyway thanks!

BTW: I experience crash just after help window closed. Could you please look at backtrace? What might be the reason?

Thanks for your feedback. I will improve them in our later version.

I have reported the crash issue to our development team, if that's caused by our program itself, it will be fixed in our next update.

Reported Mantis ID:0008289

Have you guys tried working with Novell on a partnership for foxit for their SLED distributions ?

From this one :
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/desklinux/

In the section Roadmap, it says:
"Foxit is focusing its efforts on the usability and stability of several functions and enhance, some of these enhancements comes from the feedback of our users, including CJK (Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) languages support. This new version is due on March 26th, 2009."

It seems there is sort of delay...

I use Foxit on my Windows desktop and absolutely love it. I would be nice to have a 64-bit Release of Foxit for Linux. My laptop runs Arch Linux 64-bit and while it's possible for me to run the 32-bit version, it's just not as compatible as a native 64-bit release would be.

Please look into releasing a 64-bit build some time.

Thanks!

I too would welcome an x86_64 compiled version of Foxit Reader for Linux. I am having troubles getting the 32 bit binary to run on my 64 bit system (Arch Linux x86_64).

Please let us know your stance on this. I love foxit!

Thanks,

~ Brice
