View Full Version : Changing key bindings?

Hi,
I prefer to read documents scrolling down with the space bar (like in most browsers), but the default behavior in Foxit reader for this key is to go to the next page.
The behavior I'm looking for is currently bound to the Page Down key, which scrolls down by a screen-full, rather than a page-full.
I believe this is how Adobe PDF reader behaves (ie. Space bar does the right thing), but I really don't want to install this bloat again.
Is there any way to configure the key bindings in Foxit reader to accomplish this?
Thanks,
Julien

Sorry, currently you can't configure the hotkey. I will report this to our development team as a feature request.

Hi Christina and Foxit team,
Thanks for the reply.
I would like to point out that the ability to change hotkey bindings in general would be way less important to me than fixing this one hotkey. ;-)
Scrolling down by a screen full is probably the most commonly used action when using Foxit (ie. while reading a document). Finding the page down key or using the scrollbar is much less efficient than hitting the space bar.
Btw, I love the new tabs feature :1_11:

Julien

Thanks. I may not put it clearly in my above. I actually have let our development team know this since I like using the Space bar key to scroll down too.

I just sent an email to support@ requesting this very thing, so I'll chime in a "me too" in this thread as well. The space bar behavior "fix" would all by itself make Foxit Reader twice as good. :)

Thanks. I will add your request to the feature list for developers in our internal mantis system.

I agree, space key is better for scroll down.
But I have a problem with the new tab based interface:
Usually I need to open a few windows for the same document when reading an article. So I can look at the reference, index part of a document, while I am reading the text. But the new tab based interface doesn't allow me to open more than one window for the same document. Therefore I reinstalled the older version of Foxit.

Navigate to Editor/Preferences/Documents panel, uncheck Tabbled Documents. This will allow you to open the same document in multi-windows.

Hi Christina,
Thanks for the help getting this fixed.
Did you hear back from the development team on when this could be released? Will it be in the next version of Foxit Reader?
Cheers,
Julien

I installed the latest Foxit update (3.1.1.0901) and things are working beautifully now. Pressing space scrolls down just as you would expect.
Thanks a bunch
