Very good Eslick, but how to move in small increment

Very excited to get my Eslick. Open the box, and everything works great so far.

But I do have 2 requests.

First, how to move the page in small increments. When I zoom in a page in certain books, eslick only shows the white margin and some content to the left of page. I REALLY want to move the page in small increments so that I can move the full width of content into the screen. But currently, the page move in big jumps so that I can not gradually adjust the page.

Second, is it possible to zoom in the page in customized or more optional percentages. Now eslick only has limited number of prespecified percentages such as 150%, 200%, etc. I would like to control the zooming rate more flexibly so that I can read different sizes of books.

The first request is definitely ergent for my usage.

Thanks much for you guys' feedback.
For the first request, actually we can easily do as the small increment when moving page. But if so, the increment will be always so small when you move page everytime. And the e-ink paper goes black flash when moving page. So at last, we decide to turn the whole screen content while move page.

We recommend users to read on "fit content width" mode. If the words is hardly be read in "fit content width"&portrait mode, you can change it to landscape mode.

For the second request, we will consider it.

The problem is that if you do that the page will become a mess.
So if you load a page and would scroll down and change the bothem 2 inches the rest wil stay the same. e-ink is very different from other screen technology and is very much like paper. with all the nice properties of paper but also the drawbacks

No, you may not understand I was saying. I don' t think the page will become a mess. I want to scroll the whole page, not just only a part of the page. Read Nancy's post, you will understand it is possible. I used sony 505 and 700, which also use e-ink technology. They can do that without any problem. The reason I order Eslick is that Foxit is well known for their pdf processing. It is just a matter of adding a menu item in the main menu, which ideally can take arbitrary increment specified by the user. This is function will be very useful for non-tagged pdf's, in which case they cannot be reflowed.

I believe zoom and move is not a good way to read pdf that can't be reflowed. If the content width is suitable for reading after your move, you can use "fit content width", which is different from "fit page width"(I believe sony reader don't have this function. Did you try it?). If the content width is still too much for the screen, you will need to move the page left and right, up and down, left and right. I'd rather use landscape for that case.

I guess you still don't understand what I said.
The "Fit content width" doesn't make any sense for pdf's created from pictures. Suppose you scanned lecture notes or textbooks, and convert the piectures to pdfs. The content is the whole image including the white space. Remember when you scan a page, there will possibly be shadows or dark areas. Eslick will just not work for these situations. The alternative is to control the zoom and move by the users.

I scanned most of my lecture notes into pdfs, which absolutely need these functions to browse them on eSlick.

Actually I knew what your mean. Most scanned pdf is clean enough for "fit content width" to work. Check this

If your scanned pdf have some dark areas, you can use acrobat or other pdf edit software to crop them, which is an easy job. But you may need to export the cropped pdf to ps, then convert it to pdf again, because acrobat's crop didn't remove the cropped area from file, just made a change to page size.

That is a good idea, but the margins in my pdf are not the same for every page. I have a lot of pdfs files, each running up to hundreds pages. Plus I have built a lot of bookmarks which I don't want to lose during the coverting.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. For a piece of software, I still think it is nice to have more flexibilities. After all, Eslick, so far, only has a very simple user interface. It wouldn't take too much effort to implement what I want.
