View Full Version : Strange Problem with PDf Forms

We're having an issue with filled PDF forms and were hoping to get some help.

We're an insurance broker and we deal with a lot of paper and different kinds of insurance applications that need to be filled out. We have an in-house product that automatically generates many of these documents as pre-filled pdf forms (pre-filled with the correct customer information) that can then be re-edited by our staff and then saved. These documents can then be sent to our customers who will use Adobe Reader to view and print them. We were using Acrobat Pro but it's kind of more than we need and more than a little confusing for our staff.

We've been looking for something smaller, faster and easier to use and Foxit looks like it will fit the bill nicely, only there's a problem.
When we take one of the pre-filled documents, open it in Foxit, change some of the data and save it, the data is saved in Foxit, but when we view that same document in Adobe Reader we see the original data - the data that we entered in Foxit is no where to be found.
Has anyone encountered something similar or can help point us in the right direction here.

Also, and I don't know if this is related, when we select a field on the form in Foxit, rather than editing the field, the data is removed and the field blank. If we leave that field without changing the data then the original data returns. If we change the data then the new data stays. Any ideas why this might be happening, or how to turn it off.

I've attached a version of the pdf that's causing the problem, it contains some test data that should approximate real data.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Which version of Foxit Reader you are using?

About the second issue you described, that is a known issue and has been fixed in our internal edition.
For the first issue, would you please mark out which field stick to the problem? Or make screen shots to show the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Sure, no problem.

We're using version 3.0 build 1506.

As for which fields cause the "first" problem - any of them do it, but let's use the field "First Name" as an example. I've attached 4 images demonstaring what happens abd you should be able to reproduce it with the document attached to the original message.

Example 1. Open the original document with Foxit reader, you'll see that the First Name field is set to John. I now change this to Oliver and save it.

Example 2. I then re-open the document with Foxit Reader and confirm that the name has been changed to Oliver.

Example 3. I now open the document in Acrobat Pro and the name is still set to the original value of John

Exmaple 4. This is the same as Example 3 but using Acrobat Reader.

Let me know if I can provide anything else.
