I want to install foxit plugin for firefox but I can't, because I can't find idea how to open .fzip file! I tried to find program to open it, i tried to open it via 7-zip, via Firefox, via Foxit... How to open this filetype? What is reason of using this I think not very popular filetype? Why Foxit Software is using it?

fzip is our compress format. Here is how to install it:

1. Open Foxit Reader
2. Drop down Help menu
3. Select Install Updates
4. In the Open dialog box, select .fzip file to install it...

Hope this helps.

I'm trying to install JPEG2000/JBIG Decoder (I downloaded ImageDecoder_2.0.2009.303.fzip), following your instructions, but I get the message 'Access is denied'. What should I do? I have Vista 64 O.S.

Please try turning off UAC when install the decoder. After installation, turn on UAC again.

Hope this info helps.

it will not install when firefox is not installed in default location, this is utterly retarded... why would you hardcode the firefox install directory check? now I can't use the plugin and am stuck with acrocrapper... thanks!

I'm sorry if my tone seemed "harsh," I just get really annoyed with these type of issues in modern software as it should be well known that many people do NOT use default folders for everything...

I am having the exact same problem, with the same success rate :/

I don't mind moving the file to the folder FoxIt expects, but what is that folder?
I tried the Foxit program directory, no joy.

Hello Rex B, what type of folder do you mean? folder for storing Foxit firefox plugin?
Please be more specific on your problem. Thanks.

Hello ßéñjåmmiñ, we don't mind where Firefox was installed. Foxit Reader gathers info from the registry. As long as Firefox writes data correctly into registry, Foxit firefox plugin can be installed in place. Please give us details how your could not install the Foxit Firefox Plugin. Thanks.

Please tell me what registry key it looks for so I can make sure it is there... it should be, but if it isn't I can add it manually so that install will finish properly, thanks!

P.S. my method of attempting plugin install was through the foxit reader update interface...

From Benjamin's earlier post it sounded like Foxit expected the update file to be in a specific folder. If that is the case, I want to know which folder to move the file to. Your later comment indicates it doesn't matter?
If it doesn't matter, then I do not know how to proceed.

If the Foxit Firefox plugin was installed from the update list, it will first was downloaded into the temp folder, then would be installled into the Plugins folder under Mozilla Firefox install directory and the one under Foxit Reader.

I said "it doesn't matter if or not Mozilla Firefox is installed in the default location."

I have been struggling to install this addon: ImageDecoder_2.0.2009.616.fzip
but I still get a "Access refused" popup. I have tried from the Foxit window (Help menu, and so on), but to no avail.
What is wrong?

Thanks for any help you may have...

R.

If you are running under Vista, please turn off UAC, then try to update again.

Thanks christina,

I just downloaded Foxit Reader an hour or so ago on the advice of a friend. The second file I opened had the ImageDecoder issue. I had all the problems of the other posters on this thread in my attempt to install the update.

A Google search, "fzip file," pointed to this thread. I followed your advice and it worked just fine. I have to admit, I found restarting Vista twice to set and reset the UAC to be a bit much.

I was getting the "Access Denied" message, too, each time I tried to install on the addon. I went to the Foxit Reader icon on my desktop, right clicked to Run As Administrator. Then, I went to Help | Install Updates and selected the JPEG2000/JBIG addon. It installed this time even with User Account Control on.

By choosing a far from standard zip software, then when the file is installed the install process deletes the install file, how can this be in my interest or in your interest? By the way, this non-standard zip method, it seems that they are now defunct as their web site can not be found as of todays date Nov 04/09.

Yes, the fzip file will be automatically deleted after installing.

Just check our website, it works fine. Would you please try again?
