I printed this page to PDF with Phantom:

Then in Phantom I did "save as text". I looked at the rendered text, and a lot of the "mm" pairs are expanded into a bunch of blanks instead. Examples are "immediately", rendered
BHAG you may know it i ediately, but
(there are actually several spaces there, not just one)
and commitment, rendered
Pursuing a BHAG is a big co itment
(likewise, not just one space in there).
The characters are in the PDF, and the web page source isn't doing anything tricky with "mm". I tried saving the page to PDF with a different "print to PDF" driver, then export to text from that PDF, and the same thing happened.
However, I created a small MSWord document with two sentences containing the words "commitment" and "immediately", printed that to a PDF with Phantom, saved as text, and it worked fine.
