View Full Version : 【Bug】 Foxit Phantom cannot open PDF files if the file name contains non-English characters

As the title says. Installed Foxit Phantom on an English Windows Vista SP2 Ultimate 64-bit edition. All worked fine except that it cannot open PDF files when file name contains non-English characters, e.g, Chinese, Japanese. East asian language support is installed. Foxit Phantom can display the file content (in non-English language) correctly.
Seems to be an old problem inherited from Foxit Reader?

Hello wxppro,
Sorry for this inconvenience. This issue is related to unicode.
Currently you may go to "Control"->"Regional and Language Options"->"Administrative" to change the "Current language for non-Unicode programs". Thank you.
I've also reported this problem to our developers for investigation. Your Mantis ID is: 7294.

It is unendurable when I use Foxit Phantom! It can't open a file with file name the same "Bể chứa bằng bê tông cốt thép - Quy phạm thi công nghiệm thu.pdf"

There are many file with many languages, but if Phantom can open them, I think many people will don't use Phantom and they should use product of Adobe !

Sorry for this inconvenience, our developers are working on it, but it refers to technical knowledge which should cost them some times to fix.
Hope they fix it soon.
We appreciate your patience.

Thank you for reporting the issue to the developers. While I appreciate your kind customer service attitude very much, I am more concerned about the result. This seems to be an issue related to unicode that Foxit is long aware, see:
