In Foxit some fonts (especially italic ones) are not displayed correctly. They are larger and go over the rest of text. But in Acrobat Reader they are correctly displayed. Is it a bug in Foxit or something else?

Thanks for the answers

We can't do anything without a sample file. Do you have one?

Here's the sample file.

I have nearly the same troubles with incorrect fonts (Reader v2.0). Title and equations are displayed using Arial, but they are Times. Here is an example. Previous version (Reader Pro 1.3.1621) didn't have this bug.

Yup! V1.3 displays this file correctly.

Also Firefox 2.0 beta display the correct fonts.

Hi all,
Can you attach a screenshot for I can read them well with 2.0 final.

By the way, are you using non_english system for it may display incorrectly with non_english system.

I'm using XP SP2 Pro English (without MUI). Simply try to open attached file in Reader 1.3 and 2.0 and compare results. I hope that you will stop thinking that problem is in Windows or something else.

Here are some screenshots made with different versions of Reader.

Here's how it should look and how the Foxit 1.3 or Adobe Reader 7.0.8 dispalys: http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/7055/correctra6.th.jpg (http://img236.imageshack.us/my.php?image=correctra6.jpg)

And here's how the same text is displayed in Foxit 2.0: http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/918/badoo0.th.jpg (http://img223.imageshack.us/my.php?image=badoo0.jpg)

PS. It's the page 8 from my file attached to one of the earlier posts.

That is what I look in Foxit 2.0 0912 in the attachement.
They are all in Win xp sp2 English version. The version of Adobe is 7.0.8
Please tell me more information on you OS to help us find out the reason.
If you have installed some softwares that may affect the fonts or automatically insert fonts to system before, please inform me.

Czeszcz RakuPL,

I've tested your file on Windows 2000 SP4 Dutch with:
- Foxit 2.0 build 0912 -> displays incorrect: Italic font shows as normal upright font.
- Foxit 2.0 Beta build 0609 -> display is correct
- Foxit 1.3 build 1621 - display is correct

I also had problems when using the scrollwheel (as mentioned in supportticket 95) when using Foxit 2.0 build 0912. The 2.0 Beta and 1.3 version had no problem when scrolling.

If I see al display problems in the forum, it seems Foxit 2.0 build 0912 has problems with displaying correctly on Windows versions that are not English.

My Windows version is Xp with SP2 Pro English, so I can say that it's rather not the problem of system. Also I don't use any program that would change fonts or sth.

Nothing more I can say at the moment.

Hi all,
Problem is caused by font mapping: systems other than English and CJK don't map families like "Time New Roman Bold" correctly, they always map to "Arial".
It has been solved in new version.

Hi RakuPL,

Actually we found on English system, when some language setting was changed, the problem can also happen. Anyway, could you please do an auto-upgrade and see if it works(select "Check for Updates" from "Help" menu, then choose the Foxit Reader upgrade and install it). Thanks.

Now displaying is OK, but today I've found a bug with font mapping in printed documents. The newest build maps italic and bold faces to normal one.

Another strange behaviour of Reader. When I open one more PDF document from external program (Explorer, for example), one more instance of Foxit Reader is created instead of opening new MDI child window.

Hi Griefin,
Would you please attach a sample file for our testing?
If it is private, please send it to support@foxitsoftware.com or use our ticket system. We will keep it confidential and delete it after testing.
It would be much easier for me to follow your problem if you state your problem in a new thread.
About the multi-tab and one instance issue, we will develop it in next version.

Thanks.
