Dear All,
I was eagerly looking forward use the new 2.0 Reader version. It's really cool!
But I was also waiting for it in order do to see solved an "old" problem that I have with Foxit Reader.
Even in the new 2.0 version it seems that the "text search" function doesn't work properly.
I examined at my best the fact and here are my results.
1) The text search works well with a file genated by PDF995 software (PDF version 1.3). F.R. 2.0 finds texts perfectly in this file.
2) From the same source I generated a PDF file with OpenOffice 2.0.3 (the PDF is 1,4 here). F.R 2.0 with strings of 3 characters or with text spaced like "t e s t" works, but not when I search "test".
My system is Windows XP SR2 Italian localization. The bug shows up both in Professional and home editions.
I attach the two files for you to check if the bug shows up also in other systems.
Ciao! Piermario, Torino, Italy.

Here attached you can find the same text encoded in PDF with the new version 2.0.4 of OpenOffice.
Foxit Reader searches well with this file! What did it change in OOo PDF exporting?
Ciao!

I have some PDFs generated by "Arbortext 5" and prodcued using "PDFlib+PDI 5.0.2p1 (Win32)". They are reporting as PDF version 1.4 and FoxIt 1.3 is unable to find any strings in them.

I am still using version 1.3 as after reading about the problems with 2.0 (930) I don't feel it wise to upgrade until the software is stable.

I'll keep an eye out for the next release - great software, just a shame about this Achille's heel.

I have the same problem. Find did not workin 1.3 and it isn't consist in 2.0. At times it works, must be the version that generates the pdf as each of you appear to indicate. The highlight also blanks out the words when printed. If I close the file and open again, the text is highlighted and then the words print out (although not highlighted on the print out, only the screen).
