Curiously, though Version 1.2.0.201 of FoxIt PDF Reader runs on demand, it is NOT listed in Add/Remove Programs -- it is not listed under FoxIt nor under PDF Reader nor under any other name.

So, how do I install Version 2.0, given that I cannot uninstall Version 1.2.0.201?

NOTES: Just before attempting to uninstall Version 1.2.0.201, I removed another program: Finger Knot, a program that was listed just ahead of FoxIt pdf Reader.
After this deletion, FoxIt pdf Reader disappeared from the list of installed programs! ?

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro.

Version 1.2.0.201 must be non-installer version. Please just delete the program from the folder you saved it.
Here is the link for reader 2.0 http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader_2/down_reader.htm
Please note that installer version needs installation while zip package needn't. You just unzip it and then can use it.

Thank you Jessamine.
I successfully uninstalled the earlier version of FoxIt Reader and installed Version 2.
There is, nevertheless, a problem:
Whenever I download a pdf file, an Alert pops up that reads as follows:
____________
Alert!
Unexpected error: contact the author!
OK
______________

The file, however, does get downloaded, but does not display automatically; instead, I have to double-click the file.

I use Firefox as my primary browser and have not had this problem before installing version 2.0

I'd appreciate your further help.

Hi Jessamine,

I don't know what you mean by THE link to the file, but I do have new information on the problem: it occurs ONLY when I try to open a pdf file using Firefox; it does not occur with Internet Explorer. Also, if I download a pdf file using Firefox and then open it, the problem does not occur.

I conclude that the problem has to do with a relationship between Firefox and FoxIt that did not exist in the earlier version of FoxIt. With that version, I viewed any number of pdf files using Firefox and had no problems.

Sorry, but currently reader plugin for firefox is unavailable right now. It means that you can't view pdf file inside firefox.

I got rid of the error by setting FoxIt as the pdf reader in a Firefox extension called PDF Download.

FoxIt and Firefox now get along splendidly!
