Double entry in "Open with" when right click

I just noticed a small problem. I right clicked on a PDF and chose "open with" and there are 2 entries there for "Foxit Reader". Is there a way to get rid of one of them?

I have version 2.0 paid and did not use the install version, but created my directory and copied the "exe" file directly there.

I noticed this problem after seeing someone else talk about it on a Wilder's forum, here:

Any help would be appreciated. I have checked and do not have 2 foxit reader directories, did a search in the registry and can find nothing suspect there.

I think you may need to search again using regedit. See this post (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=2683). I managed to modify the single entry OK. I suspect that there are two entries from two different installations.

Thanks for the suggestion. I searched and the only entries that are listed with the string "Foxit Reader, Best Reader for Everyday Use!" are in the MUICache and I can delete them, but they just keep coming back.

I can however edit them and change the words & that holds, but deleting them does not work.

Sure wish it had worked.

I finally found it!!!!:1_01:

It is in Key:

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3111597347-2737576788-3210619613-1007\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\FileExts\.pdf\OpenWithList]

There were 2 listings there one for:

Foxitreader.exe

and another for

Foxit~~~.exe (I am not sure this is exactly, since I erased it, but it was like this)


I deleted the 2nd one and bingo, only one in the Openwith list now!!

When I booted my computer today, the double entry was back, had to go through the whole process again, I am not sure it will stick this time.

How about it Foxit, any help on this?
