I am unable to select text in build 0930 for copy and paste purposes. I draw the box around the text I want to select, copy and paste, but as soon as I release the left mouse button, the box disappears.

I've tried alt-c with the box held by the lmb but still no luck. Am I doing it wrong or has 0930 lost the ability to copy and paste text?

I know it used to work because I have a Word doc I built a couple of months ago using an earlier version of Foxit and cut and paste. I need to modify that doc but cannot remember/figure how to effect a cut and paste operation from Foxit.

Can anyone help?

Would you please attach a sample file for testing? If it is private, please send it to support@foxitsoftware.com. We will keep it confidential and delete it after testing. Thank you.

To further complicate the question, I have a PC/Win XP/home.sp2 with Foxit build 2.0930 and I can draw a box around text. The box disappears as soon as I release the mouse button.

On my laptop running XP/pro.sp2 and Foxit 2.0930, I can select text, cut and paste just fine. I get a black box here whereas on the PC it just draws an outline box around the text (which then disappears).

Sorry... lost track of this thread for a while.

Should I uninstall and reinstall Foxit?

Edit: a sample file is meaningless. It doesn't matter what pdf file I choose. I get the same results everytime on the PC.

Well forget the prior post about the laptop. Seems it may be file specific afterall.

Try the attached pdf file.

This often happens to me, and I also think it may be file specific. Which doesn't matter since it happens on too many files.

But this sort of thing has been happening through the last several versions. I keep a copy of version 1.3.0.519 since that version will not only copy all text but keeps the formatting (for example indents and linefeeds in code snippets).

I thought the new Text Viewer would be the answer, except you can't move from page to page! This seriously limits the usefulness of that feature.

@speedlever

There is a picture only in your PDF file, no text. Therefore you can't copy text.

wpu,

when I click the above referenced link, I get a pdf file that downloads and displays in Foxit. But you can't select text in it.

Andy,

Where can I find that older version? I'd like to back down to it. My archives of Foxit setup files include:
1.3.1413
1.3.1522
1.3.1621

but no 1.3.0519.

Hmm, the 1.3 version I use to copy and paste is build 0615, but the file properties say the version is 1.3.0519.

Do they have old versions available on the Foxit site for download?
