I downloaded a brochure at the following location:

http://www.duplousa.com/_upload/brochure/Image_60.pdf

First I printed out with Foxit Reader 2.0 build 1414 and noticed that the printed file send to the HP printer get close to 100MB. I then tried to print the same document using Adobe 6 and the printed file size is less the 5MB. What a different. Very interesting because the file size of the pdf file is less than 1MB. Anyway, the bottom line is that I can not print this document using Foxit Reader because of the huge printer file that it sent to the printer. Hopefully Foxit Reader can improve on this aspect.

"printed file send to the HP printer get close to 100MB. "

Hi
I printed the brochure using Cute PDF printer to a PDF file from Foxit reader. Was 2MB. Not bad.
I realise this is not an HP printer, but it has acted as a test for me.

Which version of Reader are you using? Just have a test on HP printer, didn't get that large print spool file.

Agreed, I just printed two 4 page PDFs in FoxIt 2.0 build 1606 on a HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One and my computer nearly exploded as FoxIt created a spool file of 426MB for the first document, and 340MB for the second one.

That's insane! spoolsv.exe ( spooler service ) is at 750 megs of virtual memory!

There is one thing. These PDFs have their size as 34in x 48in Obviously they are scaled to fit by foxit, but, foxit seems to do this AFTER rasterizing them at 34in x 48in, instead of before. And since that is four times the resolution it will create a spool file 16 times larger than necessary. My guess is the OP had files with similar situation.

ehehe the page counter in the print queue says page 12/4 since there is a mismatch from the original size to what is sent to the printer...

This is still a problem to me. I'm using the latest version of Foxit Reader. Our company created a brochure using Publisher and created the pdf file by using PrimoPDF. If open the file using Foxit and printed to HP Laserjet 4050, the queue shows 73.5MB. However, if open with Adobe 6 and printed to the same printer, the queue is only 8.69MB. A big different.

Hello Jacken,

Would you mind send us your brochure, which will be used to test in the version 2.3. Tks.

Send to support@foxitsoftware.com or upload here.

Hi Christina,

The file is too big to upload here. So I've emailed to the email provided. It has the subject line "Sample File".

Thanks.
