Foxit Reader 1.3 Build 1413
I have been using Foxit for about a month, and I just begin to notice the printing issue. Having read the posts about printing issues, I may have encountered a different problem.
I notice I can print some PDF documents quickly, some very very slowly, some even as blank pages regardless of which printer I use - I have 3 network printers connected as well as FinePrint 5.50 and CutePDF Writer, and I also notice those slow and blank prints are associated mostly with PDF documents I created from hard copies using CutePDF Writer 2.3 and Ghostscript 8.51, so using CutePDF Writer 2.5 and GS 8.53 I begin testing.
I scan at different resolutions (unfortunately my network scanner is B&W only) to a multi pages TIF file and from that file I use Windows XP own Windows Picture and Fax Viewer print wizard to print to CuteWriter which generates a PDF document using default settings of 600dpi. I use Foxit Reader to open the PDF document just created and print to various printers, including to FinePrint, and here are the initial results:
Scanned at 300dpi - printing and fast ok
@ 400dpi - slow and noise to white areas of the page
@ 600dpi - extremely slow but pages are blank
For comparison, I have printed to PDF created with CutePDF Writer directly from a webpage (mostly text), but the results are inconclusive:
3 pages @ 300dpi - slow (much slower than with scanned documents)
6 pages @ 300dpi - much slower
6 pages @ 600dpi - even slower still
In case anyone wishes to take a look at my sample PDF:
