Hi everybody, I just wrote a new plugin for Foxit Reader
(Tested under Win2000/XP/2003)

This plugin is to make Foxit Reader remember every PDF documents' "last view position", following is the usage:

------------------
First, you open any PDF document with this modified version of Foxit Reader v1.3
2nd, you do some reading, and of course you will scroll the document to some page..
then, you close the document or the Foxit Reader itself.
OK, the next time you open this PDF document, you will find that it scrolls to the page of your last view automaticlly!
------------------

That's all, you can try it, and if any questions and ideas, please contact me: davidhowe@qq.com

In fact, I am going to write this as the "User Bookmark Plugin" for Foxit Reader, you can find the menu item I added in "Edit" menu, but by now, I have not finished it yet.

Best wishes and good luck!

And the 2.0 version will be ready next Monday? Tuesday?

There is some unknown reason that makes the plugin working only under v1.3, in v2.0, it fails to create instance... I still don't know why this happens, and I will debug it more when I have time (lack of sleep these days :1_26: ).
BTW, I really think the Foxit Developers should support this feature themselves! :1_28:

Wow, it's great! I do want to use this but I am using v2.0. BTW, I wonder if the plugin have an opinion to active/disactive this function.

After many hours debugging, this plugin works with Foxit Reader v2.0 now! (Thanks to Nico for his help)
The new version will be released in several days, and I will make a patch installer for it.

The plugin is updated, along with a installer now.
And this version works well under Foxit Reader v2.0, you can try it. ^^

Two things:
Tested on Win2000, working just well.
Once patched, you can do unpatch at any time, by simply excuting "unpatch.bat" in the directory of Foxit Reader.

First of all let me thank you for such a great plugin, I really missed it's functionality!

And in addition is it possible to restore not only last viewed page but also a zoom level?

Thanks in advance.

hi, I think it is possible to save and restore the zoom status of each doc, but I think this feature is not in urgent need by now, maybe I will code this some day :)
Currently, I am worry about if it is illegal to distribute this plugin, somebody can tell me?

If it were, you'd sure think some Foxit rep would have said so by now!

Nice plug-in David, I finally got around to installing it.

Will you be doing any more work on it, and if so, will you be posting it at
http://blog.chinaunix.net/u/19232/showart_268059.html ?

If you do any more work on it, can you make it so Foxit remembers I don't want to see the ad (View>Advertisement)?

Thanks for a handy tool.

I planed to improve this plugin, to add a "User-Bookmark" feature for it, this maybe helpful when you're reading something and you wanna set some own bookmarks for future reference...(I'm still not sure if this feature is valuable to write out, you can give me some advice)
But in these days I am busy for something else (ok, it's my job work), so maybe it will take a long time to wait.
About the ad... I don't think it's a good idea to totally get rid of it, you know, I only want to improve foxit reader, not to enrage them developers, lol

Oh, one more thing, you can always get the new version from this site: http://davidhowecn.googlepages.com/foxitbookmarkplugin, I made an ugly webpage for it.

I don't think I personally would use Bookmarks much. I do however really like a pdf file opening right where I left off. Bookmarks might be handy if one was often referring to a long file, which I don't.

The default behavior is that once you've unselected Advertisement from the View menu, the ad stays off after that. So the programmers don't mind the program remembering that setting. But the plug-in causes the setting to not stick.

I should say I run a registered version of Foxit, so maybe that's a feature only available to paying customers. But the plugin does neutralize the feature.

Bookmarks would be good. Especially for research papers where you have dozens of 50 page documents and there are several quotes/sentences in each document you want to use. It's one thing to cite them in your paper, but when you are continuously looking them up in the pdf, it would be easier to just click on a bookmark to bring you to the correct page.
