Background: Developing a software application that uses Foxit to create and review reports from a database.

Once the report is created and opened, it displays and prints fine until...

changing printers to the HP Laser Jet 4250.

Then, upon clicking the printer button in the Foxit Reader, the XP Pro machine puts up a blue screen and the computer must be physically reset.

Is this a known issue with this specific printer maybe?

I have the same issue with a hp4000 printer
I traced the problem to the driver:
-when the pcl6 driver is used, the blue screen comes up with every print attempt.
-with the PCL driver, printing works.

the drivers used are part of windows XP
UNIDRV.dll v0.3.5824.16384
PCL > Datafile: HPLJ4000.GPD < no problem
PCL6> Datafile: HPLJ40P6.GPD < crash

on the hp website, there is a universal printing driver available. I don't like this driver because of the extra monitors and stuff/
For completeness sake, I'll try it with pcl6 now. Till after the crash?

No crash with the HP universal driver PCL6 (datafile hpu4pdp6.gpd)
I see again why I didn't like this driver: it bugs me to change the toner, while the toner still produces perfect copies.
Also there's stuff running in the background, where none should be.

your choice
regards

BTW: foxit = great work :1_11:
