View Full Version : Trouble viewing "paperless" credit card statements

(Win XP, IE 6, Foxit Reader 2.2b2129)

I'm currently enrolled to use "paperless credit card statements" (pdf files from my credit card's web site) and I don't really care to download and permanently save the pdf file, I'd rather just view it long enough to reconcile the account, and then just close it.

When I click on the link...

javascript:GoToPDFPage("https://www100.americanexpress.com/myca/estatement/pdf/action?request_type=authreg_StatementPDF", "0", "en_US", "0");

...for a particular statement, a standard Windows dialog appears: Do you want to open or save this file? (Open, Save, Cancel).

If I click the open button, Windows downloads the file and then starts Foxit Reader.

Foxit Reader doesn't display the document, instead it gives the following error: C:\Documents and Settings\.....\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\...\Statement_Aug 2007(1).pdf Coundnot open file. File not found. (OK).

When I click OK to this message, Foxit Reader closes and I'm returned to viewing the web site again.

If I click the same website link as before and select Save instead of Open, a Windows Save As dialog appears. If I click Save, the download dialog shows the progress and alerts me that the download is complete (Open, Open Folder, Close). If I select Open, then Foxit reader opens the document and displays it no problem.

How can I fix the interaction between Foxit Reader and IE 6 so that I don't necessarily have to save a pdf file in order to view it? At least, how do I go about troubleshooting this?

Thanks,

Who

Hi,

Could you give us the link? I know it needs user ID and password. But if you could give us a sample, that would be quite helpful.
