View Full Version : Foxit printing to CutePDF issue

I've tried this on multiple machines and it's the same issue of all of them. When I use Foxit 2.2 and print to CutePDF, the PDF file seems to be extremely slow in opening. Adobe never finishes opening the file while Foxit is very slow in opening it and also viewing it.
I've printed to CutePDF with other programs (such as firefox) and the files are fine. So the problem seems to be related to Foxit.
I've also tried downgrading to Foxit 2.1, but the same problem still occurs.

Are you trying to create a PDF from a PDF? Why not just use the "Save" and you will get the same result.

Not with the free version.

I used to wonder the same thing--why "print" from a PDF file to a PDF file?
I found out why, when I wanted to extract one page from a file of many pages. I "printed" the page to Primo PDF and got exactly what I wanted.
Primo PDF does a good job of converting almost anything to PDF. It makes a great complement to Foxit Reader. Like Foxit Reader, it is freeware.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I tried PrimoPDF but got the same result as CutePDF, the PDF file created was extremely slow. If you use a slow program like Adobe to read the created file, you'll see there's something very wrong with it.
Foxit doesn't make it seem as noticeable, but it is still noticeable...

Neil- I get it now. Thanks. I just use Page Organizer to extract pages. Never thought about doing it your way.
DirtyMcDoogle- Does it happen with all your PDF files or just certain ones?

Try PDFcreator. I just did a test, selecting and printing a single page of a multi page, full colour, document opened in Foxit Reader, and it worked perfectly. The resulting pdf opened normally in Foxit Reader with no delay.

Did you try opening the same PDF file in Adobe? You can see the bigger difference when you're on slower machines too.

Would you please send your file to me(support@Foxitsoftware.com)for testing?

No, I no longer have Adobe installed. Foxitreader suits my everday purposes fine. I use a P4 1.7 laptop with W2k.

Sure
5359268_103107.pdf is the original pdf file.
5359268_103107_cute.pdf is the printed pdf file using CutePDF.

Thanks, is the mantis id a support ticket?

The support ticket is not a Mantis id.

Mantis must be Foxit's internal bug tracker system:
http://www.mantisbt.org/
If you want a support ticket, go to:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/support/ticket/
and create a new ticket.
You can reference this thread in your notes to them.
Good luck,
