View Full Version : Cannot search a PDF document created with OpenOffice

If I search for text in the PDF document no matching text is found. The search worked on the previous version of the documentation (created with Microsoft Office I believe) and it also works for all the other PDF documents I've tried. FoxitReader is 1.3 build 1413.

Searching with Acrobat finds the text.

If I search for one or two characters it finds them, "fi" is found but not "fil". However, "ile" is found. "preview" is found in what looks like Courier font, but not in the normal text which is a serif font (Times?).

The document in question is x2docs.pdf, size 4,116,704 http://netez.com/xplorer2/x2docs.zip or http://www.ps.ic.ac.uk/~umeca74/x2docs.zip so it's a little large to post!

I've also posted a question on the xplorer2 forum.

I've done a quick search of the forum and not found any postings related to this.

Thank you for the confirmation.
A user on the xplorer2 forum, who had similar problems, suggested that I try build 0819 which he had found worked. I confirmed that and in fact build 0104 also works with all the text I tried. It's only build 1413 that has the problem. That may help them pinpoint it.
