Thanks. It will be translated ASAP, probably today :)
Edit:
There is some error (unknown chars used, looks like chinese, or russian or... who knows)
starting from: <dlgitem id="15050" text.
This make my translation software crash.

Hi Whiteshark,
Thanks for your report. I have updated the file. Please use the new one.
Thanks Elisha :-)
Sorry for bother, but there are still some strings with problems:
<dlgitem id="13127" text="¡÷X:"/>
<dlgitem id="13128" text="¡÷Y:"/>
<string id="11198" text="None\nDollor($)\nDeutschmark(DM)\nEuro(€)\nGuilder (fl)\nFrance(F)\nKrona(kr)\nLira(L.)\nPeseta(Pts)\ nPound(?¨º)\nYen(¡ê¡è)"/>
Moreover, this file cause weird behaviors in Foxit Reader menus.
Please test your English.xml in Foxit Reader. Rename it to whatever
language you like (let's say eg. lang_fr_fr.xml or lang_it_it.xml) and try
to use it. Then open a PDF and you will see what i mean.
My italian translation is ready and complete, but doesn't make
sense i publish it, until we solve all these issues.
I have just submitted it to your ticket support to investigate
Bye :)

There are some obsolete voices.
I have bolded them.
All these coins were replaced by Euro.

Hello Kurica,
i'm sorry, but this file is still broken.:1_29:
Please test it as asked above
Thanks.

Whiteshark is right, unfortunately the file is still unusable. If you need more details I can offer them, but basically what you should do is to load the romanian file that I have attached to this message and see for yourself that although all the strings are translated, many options from the menus (Advanced Editing Tools, Commenting Tools, etc.) appear in english. The "File" menu does not appear when a file is opened inside Foxit and all the other menus are shifted to the left. There is also a redundant menu named "Help" that appears at the end of the Menu Bar, even if I have translated its title as "Ajutor", that also appears (correctly, but shifted to the left) as a menu title.

No needs to translate anything, muntealb.
Simply try to rename the supplied 'English.xml' to 'lang_ro_ro.xml',
then select romanian as language. Obviously in this way all the captions
will be still in english, but the wrong behaviour in Foxit is exactly the same.
Opening a PDF, the "File" item disappears from menu, and two
"Help" items are shown at the right side. One "Help" is coming out
from the translation, and the other from the builded-in language.
IMNSHE, this does happens cause many references in the language file
are most likely wrong or missing, so the software if forced to show
a... mixture of translated and builded-in captions everywhere :-(

Indeed, there is an easy method to verify that the english file is broken. But if the developers already knew that, why they did not fix it ?
The new english file has some modifications, including references (the numbers associated with the strings), but that is not enough, the main problem still exists.
Whiteshark, I read on the Maxthon forum about you quest for a text comparing tool to use with the english language files included with the versions of a software. The best one is included in the opensource text editor PSPad ( http://www.pspad.com/ ). Open the EnglishFile1 in PSPad, then go to Tools>Text Differences>Text diff with this file>Select the EnglishFile2>Open. Click on the button "Tile Horizontal" in the mini-toolbar just above the opened files to view the differences better.

hi,here is the brazilian portuguese language file but i got a problem:utf-8 is not displayed,please,check what could be wrong since i have no idea of what may be causing this.
SUGESTIONS:please put warnings all over the site to ppl come here to grab the english file here,i grabbed the one in the add-ons sections and wasted my time translating many of the things that are there till i decided to register in the forums and got the real language file that must be used.
other sugestion,ALWAYS put the language file in the first post of the forum,exchange the old with the new one,i didnt notice that there was a english.xml down here till i looked the entire post,thanks for your attention and the program.

The language file is not Unicode (UTF-8) compatible. This is a known problem, but not the biggest one. The brazilian portuguese file for Foxit 2.2 cannot be used, because it is based on an english file that is also unusable. It would be better if the developers would ask the translators NOT to translate until the english file is fixed.

Is the English file still not available? It is really annoying as my translation into Irish is wonky anytime I open a document. I really want to translate it properly and then publicise it so that other Irish speakers can use it.
Please, Foxit Software, fix the file for us.
Many thanks.

Hi Foxit,
I am writing again to see what is the problem with the English file? Can you fix it?
It really would be great to get it soon so we can translate it. Can you let us know what is happening?
Many thanks,

Hi All,
Really sorry about that.
We usually focused on adding new functions to the V2.2, and may not have much time to update those language files perfectly. We apologize for the inconvenience and will try to release version 2.3 as soon as possible. The language file will surely be fixed for the next release.

I know this topic is a bit old, but I know a solution for the problem.
XML is broken since line 335
where is <popup id="|0" text="File">
and should be <popup id="|1" text="File">
so broken lines are:
335 (|0 instead of |1)
348 (|1 instead of |2)
355 (|2 instead of |3)
364 (|2|12 instead of |3|12)
370 (|2|14 instead of |3|14)
377 (|2|22 instead of |3|22)
392 (|3 instead of |4)
395 (|4 instead of |5)
404 (|5 instead of |6)
412 (|6 instead of |7)
413 (|6|0 instead of |7|0)
414 (|6|0|0 instead of |7|0|0)
422 (|6|5 instead of |7|5)
423 (|6|5|0 instead of |7|5|0)
433 (|7 instead of |8)
441 (|8 instead of |9)
and for now that's it. So I'm keep checking.
All this can be manually done. No big trouble, and no need to worry programers about this :)
P.S. It was very easy to notice basing on older .xml file
P.P.S. For lazy ones corrected English.xml (added xml declaration in the first line - it won't broke anything)

Everybody should stick with the 2.1 translated file, it is the best at this time. The 2.2 file is a mess, maybe the developer(s) will fix it in time for Foxit Reader 2.3.

Elisha, what's your interpretation of "very soon"? You posted about 3 months ago that language file will be published very soon...
I think, very soon should be anything within 2 weeks, maximal 1 month...

With the very latest build 3309 many inconsistences with the language
file resurfaced.
In the previous build only few captions were untranslatable (eg. Measure Tools). Now Advanced Editing Tools, Typewriter Tools, Drawing Markup Tools, Commenting Tools, and all their submenus stay untranslated, here. :(
Also, please notice the online translation webpage unavailable (error404)

I have installed the latest build (3309) and I do not see that many problems. Only the "Typewriter Tools" caption is untranslated, all the other menus/submenus/commands/options appear translated.

Actually you and I were both right.
Foxit Reader 2.3.3309 was released on 17 september and I have downloaded it, then installed it on top of the older version. The menus and commands were displayed well, with the exception mentioned in my previous message.
Today I have used DiffMerge (http://www.sourcegear.com/diffmerge/) to compare the romanian and italian language files with respect to the XML structure (written in english). There is only one minor difference.
So I have uninstalled my version of Foxit Reader and installed the one released on 14 october. And this time when I opened FR I saw that many menus were displayed in english. Strange behavior, but it dissapeared after closing and reopening FR. I have checked also your file and only the Typewriter Tools are displayed in english.
It seems that closing and reopening FR solves the problem.

I have just re-downloaded from the forum my own translation, and it does work fine (with the few well known exceptions you mentioned).
Most likely, as supposed, i had just broken my local file by editing it.
Thanks again :)

About the "Typewriter Tools" thing, just add at the end of the language file
(after the last string id="61976") this new item to get the issue fixed:
<string id="61977" text="Typewriter Tools"/>

Try adding at the end of the <dialog id="300">, after the current last
dlgitem="1368", these two new items (the ones highlighted in blue):
<Dialog id="300">
<dlgitem id="1368" text="Restore last view settings when reopening"/>
<dlgitem id="1201" text="Bookmark"/>
<dlgitem id="1254" text="Always hide bookmark"/>
And now, if we were Foxit Developers, we could definitely release the
so long awaited updated english file as well. LOL !

Not so fast, Whiteshark. You have done a great job for the english language file of FR 2.3. But now here we go again with FR 3.0... The current language files are incompatible with the new release and the new english language file is nowhere to be found. But that shouldn't surprise anyone, isn't it ?

I just hope we can have a working english file to translate for ver. 3
before the ver. 4 is released...
