Okay, I over analayze. This week, I downloaded and played with Foxit, Adobe Professional, PDFill, and Nitro because I need to update/replace Adobe 5.0. Here's my wish list for Foxit.
1. Please create an undo feature and repeat feature. For productive work, we really need to be able to undo when we have made a simple error. It would be great if Ctrl-Z would undue.
2. Stabilize the tool bars. No matter how I work to get mine just right, the program frequently resets the tool bars and puts all the tool bars back up. Some of the tool bars are all but redundant and some are too small. It would be great if one could build his own toolbars like in the Microsoft programs allow.
3. Build a help file so that one doesn't have to open the manual and go searching through it.
4. Quit with all of the expensive modules that force a poor guy to keep his Acrobat. Especially combine the page organizer and the page editor program. The page organizer and editor are much more difficult than Adobe and Nitro.
5. Take a note from Nitro, meaning allow us to rearrange pages within Foxit. I want to quit Adobe, but I know that I have to use it to rearrange pages. When I am putting together proposals, it is critical to be able to drag pages around. To use Foxit, I will have to do my files in Foxit, then compose full-length PDFs in Adobe.
6. A whiteout feature would be nice (see PDFill). However, you can customize the rectangle tool and get just about the same affect. Also, a regular text box feature would be great. On the other hand, the typewriter function generates a similar affect.
7. Is it possible to allow Foxit forms to be filled and saved by Adobe Reader users? Do that and the whole world become Foxites ... huh? Anyway, you'd sell a lot of product.
Other than that, I really like the program, and I love its low memory use. Nitro is really nice, but its memory use is four times Foxit. Other than memory use, Foxit should be applauded for allowing users to create form fields without leaving the edit interface. The typewriter function is a marvell.
