I am having trouble printing pdf files when viewing in Foxit. I actually get two of the following error messages
The first is "The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file." This appears when I select the print function.
When I click OK on that message it goes to the regular print page and I select OK, I then get the following message, "Cannot get the dc of the printer".
I get the first message only sometimes, but the second always appears.
Any suggestions??

From Foxit Support:
Could you help to download the latest Foxit Reader then try again. Does the printing preview work normally? Please kindly email to support@foxitsoftware.com with detailed error report messages you get from Foxit Reader besides "Cannot get the dc of the printer". The origianl PDF file will be helpful for us to identify the problem, too.

I just installed Foxit Reader and I am having the same problem exactly. I have an HP LaserJet 1000 printer. The printer dialog does come up and shows my printer. When I hit the print icon I get the "Cannot get the dc of the printer" message. This isn't on just one PDF, it's on every one I have tried. I had Adobe Reader and it stopped working. I tried clearing out the .tmp files for it, but I still can't get it to open. I upgraded it to the newest version and it still won't open. That is why I was looking and found Foxit Reader.
Thanks,

..."Cannot get the dc of the printer".
same problem here (HP laserjet 1000).
The print preview do not show the page preview and the zoom is set to 0%.
Changing it manually to 100% doesn't change anything.
This happens only with this printer and with all kind of PDF files.

Seems that HP Laserjet printers are not compatibale and friendly with Foxit Reader :1_19:
We would like to carry out investigaions on printing tests with HP printers in our earliest convenience to fix this problem soon.

yes, all,
laserjets do seem problematic; on my (old) 1100 I get a page printed
in 3/4 of a minute, but upon checking the box 'print as graphics'
(in Foxit-settings, general), I get a printout in a 1/4 minute ; this is
very little (2-3 seconds) behind Acrobat. Please remember that a lot
depends on the page-material (I had a page which wouldn`t print in
4 minutes). To that effect, I suggest that Foxit puts up a "standard
page" on the site - for people to load and try/compare printing layouts:
printers, drivers, settings, versins, etc..

Cute suggestion. We will ask our developers to do so in the near future.

Prtinting with my HP5P (LPT1) gives no error messages.
But the images are printed upside down and in mirror!
btw, the gdiplus.dll file from the Foxit website is an older version.
foxit version: 5.1.3097.0 (xpclient.010817-1148)
already installed version: 5.1.3102.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

edit: Foxit reader build 0519 prints all ok.....
oh, and only the images in the right collumn are roteted and mirrored....

I've just downloaded version 1.3 Beta Build 0708.
I use a HP4100 DTN printer (with double sided printing facilities).
When I look at the Finishing Tab in the Properties of my printer in menu items Print Setup... or Print... I see that Quick Sets are set on Factory Defaults and Print on Both Sides is switched off.
When I then print a document it is still printed on both sides. To avoid both sides printing I have first to select both sides printing and then deselect that option.
The print preview show legal paper (8x11.5 inch) instead of the default paper in my printer bins (setting in Printer Properties). User dsergeant mentioned that also in another thread (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=107).
So paper and print options are probably not retrieved from the printer properties.
Could this be corrected?
Greetings.

Ronnay et al,
printer-drivers are a "special creed" ; on my machine,
I`ve never yet seen an application`s print-preview which
interpreted my paper-format setting correctly. I use
DIN-A4 format (=europe-standard) as paper source spec,
but allways get 8x11,5 inch in the previews of the apps.
<I use a simple single-sided HP-lj1100 printer>
How many (other:) apps support your double-sider-HP ?
I think this is an issue of an app`s interface to the
printer-driver (?!).

Hello All,
For latest release Build0819, we have fixed the printing issue of "cannot get the DC", the printing crashes, and cant print. This is really excellent improvement!
For landscape/portrait settings, our developers are still working on it and will get back to you pretty soon.
To post a standard file for users' reference suggestion has been forwarded to our developers...

Hi.
I've got the same problem with HP LJ1000(others HP printers works fine).
When I change printer on HPLJ100 in Print window, FoxItReader shows this message "The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file."
I generate PDF document with PHP. In MS IE there isn't "Printer setup", when I change printer in Printer setup, on HPLJ100, printing works fine.
There isn't such problem with Adobe Reader.

Dear Jessamine
This is an issue since June 2005 in this thread alone !!!
When are the dev either going to fix the issue with printing to a HP1000 range printer .. or at least just say - Give Up and let us go back to Acrobat ?
"Soon" needs to be qualified (Now Dec 2006 - 3 months after your last soon !!!)

We have the same problem with HP Laserjet printers. We cannot print PDF files from foxit, so we have to change to Acrobat to print and thus, probably we'll return to Acrobat, because we print almost all PDF files we open.

Good Afternoon,
Actually this is very similar to the same problems I am having which I have not had satisfied yet. I sent all of the information that you requested Jessamine and have not heard back from you. That was back last month.
To refresh, my issue has to do with printing after modifying a file using the typewriter and ProPack.
It would be great to have a resolution to this issue. And yes, my printer is an HP also, a LaserJet 4050.
Has there been a build released in the last 30 days?
Thanks in advance.

The problem is still not fixed with newest version 2.0 of foxit reader.
I used foxit reader 1.3.1621 for some time and was quite satisfied with it. Printing always worked fine for me (HP Laserjet 1010). Today I installed version 2.0.0930 and now I'm not able to print pdf any longer. Every time I try to print some PDF I actually get the error message "The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file." Then I click OK and the printer page appears. There the preview is completely broken and when I click OK again to print the document nothing happens.
As I can see from this thread it seems to be a known bug that foxit has serious problems with HP printers. It seemed to be fixed in version 1.3 at last but now reappeared. It would be nice if you could fix this problem (again) and avoid re-implementing it in future versions.
I'm using Foxit Reader Version 2.0 build 0930.

Same here with HP LJ 1012. The workaround is to:
1. Have installed some other printer drivers (say Generic/Text Only, Laser Jet III, or whatever is available within Windows installation).
2. Before printing go to Printer Setup, and change to that other printer.
3. Go to Print dialog, and make sure that you have a print preview with that new printer. Then Cancel.
4. Again go to Print Setup, and change back to LJ 1010.
5. Go to print dialog, and everything should be fine.
