I have just downloaded foxit PDFEDIT and like the program a lot. Trouble I have is after I open the program, I lose access to my network. The other computers also lose access to my computer. The other computers can see each other, just not me. I have an XP peer to peer network. I do not even have to open a file with the program, just open the program to have this effect. My internet connection stays intact. Any ideas? I have to reboot to get the connections back. This is very annoying! I have tried to go to network connections and repair the connection to the LAN, no help.
Thanks for any help,
Chris

Foxit PDF Editor won't affect the LAN connection except sending a message to our server to verify you are a registered user when Internet connection is possible.

After another thought, I think this problem might be with your Firewall settings.

Arthur, I have turned off the firewall and still have the problem. The problem is the same on other computers I install the program on. In the other messages, I indicated I needed to reboot. Actually, I just have to wait 30 minutes, and then the other drives are available. The error message I get is : An error occurred while reconnecting P: to \\W\W Cdrive. Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use. This connection has not been restored.

I know you say your program does not cause the problem, but as soon as I open your program, this problem occurs. It does not happen otherwise. I have turned off the firewall.

I really would like a fix.

Thanks,
Chris

As FoxPDFEditor starts up, the Norton AV on my other systems sees and blocks a Worm intrusion attempt, and kills network connectivity. Whatever FoxPDFEdit does as it starts up, it looks to Norton like a "Back Orifice 2000 Trojan" and get's blocked.

I also see a post from f00trzak late last year outlining similar symptoms.

Can you modify the startup behaviour please?

There's clearly some sort of LAN problem with Fox PDF Editor - please can FoxIT respond to this.

We also have this problem with Norton AV flagging a backorifice worm on computers on the network when ever foxitpdfeditor is opened. I guess this is caused by the program trying to contact yuor servers.

This is the major issue that has stopped me buying this product for the whole office. It makes it look like spyware even if it isn't. I'd recommend you change the communication system so that it doesn't look so much like a virus/trojan. Apart from increasing sales, it might work better for you, since most people would be running firewalls etc that block the current one, because it looks very suspicious.

My customer has the same issue. Where can I get that new version which is hopefully w/o NAV issue?

ludek, write an email to support(at)foxitsoftware.com , insert a link to this thread in your mail and ask for that new version.

I have been using Foxit Reader for almost two years!
I'd never come across this issue!:1_01:
I think this soft is better than Adobe!faster ,more convenient!
I'd never update it ,why the new vertion would be with so much problem!
Unbelievable!

New version

Sorry this has taken a long time, but we had told norton to ignore these warnings, so its only now a new version of norton is installed I've really been able to test the new version.

Unfortunately Norton is still reporting a back orifice 2000 trojan on other computers in the network when foxit is launched, even with the special version (build 1325)

Could you please tell us the version of Norton AV you are using?
Are you using Norton Firewall?
We need to know the detail version number of Norton products you are using.

If Norton AV warns Editor as a "worm",
please add 'editor' to 'norton antivirus options - internet - program control', making editor legal to access to internet.
For other firewalls, you can make similar change to the settings.

We have the problem on Norton Antivirus 2006 and Norton Antivirus 2005.
The message does not appear on the computer running pdfeditor, but on other computers on the network, when pdf editor is opened on a computer on the network. It doesn't seem reasonable for pdfeditor to have to access the internet through multiple computers.
