Hi all.

The main reason for switching to Foxit was because it was small, compact, fast.
I have the feeling it progresses (imho regression) to the Adobe reader.

Please keep it small or think of releasing a "LITE" Version please.

Question: Where can I download latest V2.2 - it was a mistake updating to 2.3...?

I agree. I have gone back to using v2.1 which does everything I need except for its few bugs. Virtually all the things which were added in 2.2 and 2.3 which increased its file size are of no interest to me - and the permanent bookmark pane in 2.3 means it is a definite no no. Sorry...

We are planning a lite version.

What do you consider "small"?

Also, what functions would you want to see in the lite version?

Thanks.

Hello Erik!

Only basic features in a Lite Version would be nice, I think itīs enough to open/view pdfs, search document and zoom/resize. And get rid of (advanced) "Tools" like snapshot, text selection, etc., which you can only use as "Trial"...

A Lite version should be just a PDF reader, no edit features apart from possibly a basic typewriter. ALL the features added after 2.2 have no interest for me.

I have been using 2.0 now for a week and find it serves me admirably. With all the known issues with 2.3 I shall stick with that until a Lite version comes out.

Thanks
Dave

hmm...
v2.0 ~4 megs
v2.1 ~5.3 megs
v2.2 ~5.5 megs
v2.3 ~6.5 megs

you can try to upx it but let me guess - thats against license!?
but you can shrink it down to ~2 megs.

BTW latest 2.2 here is 2.2.2007.2129 - is that correct?

Lite version for me:
- open/view/print
- search
- zoom/resize
- fill forms and save (very useful for online documents)

Thanks for the input. Foxit appreciates it.

I fully agree, but would ask for ESC-press for quitting. This was possible in version 1.3 build 1231 of Feb 2006 with a size of 2.6MB installed and 1.2MB zipped.:1_11:

Just write down what you want the Foxit Reader to be... Foxit are good listeners.

Maybe "Foxit are good listeners", but they are not so good at implementation in a timely manner.

What's the status of this Lite version of Foxit Reader?

It's still in embryo.

The status is it is currently being developed. It may not be out in version 3.0 yet.
