View Full Version : "Open properties" box won't appear

When I right-click on some highlighted text in my pdf's to select the "Open properties" dialog box, it won't appear on my screen. Foxit Reader assumes it is open, though, because when I right-click on the same highlighted region, it says "Close properties". I don't know if this is an after-effect of having switched from using dual monitors to a single monitor today......while I was using dual monitors, the properties box would appear on the original monitor, despite the fact that foxit reader was displayed on the extended monitor's desktop. And when I rebooted my computer to display on a single monitor, I started getting this problem. Any ideas, because I really depend on multiple highlighting colors in my pdfs. This problem occurs for any drawing markup tools, regardless of it being underline, squiggly, highlighter, etc.

Foxit Reader 2.2 (although I thought I just used the installer to upgrade to version 2.3 -- hmmmmm)
Windows Vista Home Premium
Nvidia GeForce Go 6100

Hello Blake,

Have you upgraded to 2.3? Does this issue happen on v2.3 too?

Christy,

I actually did the upgrade method through the update manager (under the Help --> Install Update menu), and I thought it had upgraded to v2.3, since that option is now gone on the update manager, but when I go to Help --> About, it still shows as v2.2, along with "Foxit Reader 2.2" at the top of my window when I open Foxit Reader.

Is this what you were looking for? Thanks for replying to my query.

Christina,

Sorry I called you "Christy" -- I was going off of memory, and didn't see your actual name. Oops!

This shows that you didn't upgrade successfully, please upgrade again. Once you make it, you will see 2.3 at the top of reader window, and have a try.

Let me know the result.

Christina,

I've got the same result after an upgrade to v2.3 -- I right-click on a highlighted area, select "Open Properties", and the screen will have a quick flicker, but nothing happens. When I right-click again, I have "Close properties" instead of "Open", so Foxit recognizes that I've opened the properties dialog box, but no GUI appears. If you've got a solution, I'm all ears.

Well, I can not reproduce this issue. I will forward to our testing team.

This issue happens on PC or Laptop?

Christina,

This problem occurs on a laptop -- Compaq Presario F572US, with the specs that I listed in the first post. Most importantly, an Nvidia chip (GeForce Go 6100), and this occurred after switching from a dual monitor setup to the native screen on my laptop. Thanks for the constant effort, I just wish this weren't such a persistent little problem.

Christina,

I managed to get the problem fixed -- I think it may have been a combination of foxit reader and my graphics card, because when I hooked my laptop up for a dual monitor setup, the "Open Properties" dialog box appeared on my extended monitor, and I'm guessing that foxit may have been attempting to emulate the extended desktop even after I went back to the single monitor.

Hello Blake,

Thanks for your return and clearing up the problem. Foxit Developer has figured out its an issue of a dual monitor, and will improve its supporting.
