Hi,

I've got a major problem here. Suddenly there seems to be a slider bug. See the screenshot for clarification. All pdf files now open at the last page, although the first is being displayed. As indicated by the slider at the right of the screen I have to scroll up to go to the next site and not to scroll down as you would usually do.

Hi,

I have sent Foxit support a rapidshare link since the file itself is too big to send it by email.

Hi I am having the same problem discussed. I am experiencing that same issue in EVERY pdf I open in Foxit Reader 2.3. I have uninstalled version 2.3 and installed 2.2 and the problem disappears. More details about this issue are below:

Opening PDF:

- First page is displayed.
- Scrollbar is at the bottom

Moving around PDF (View Page Layout: Single or Continuous)

- Roll mouse wheel down, display moves to bottom of current page, but not on to the next page.
- Roll mouse wheel up beyond top of page and display moves to the bottom of the next page and continues as such to the end of document.
- Using "Spacebar" move from Top page 1 to Top Page 2, Top Page 3, etc to end.
- Using "Shift-Space" does the same as "Space" but in reverse.
- Using "Space and Shift-Space" does not move through the page to a allow single key reading. (I think this worked in previous versions) .

Ciao,
Mnemoth

Revisions:

New Learnings after downgrading to Foxit Reader 2.2 on the system where Foxit Reader 2.3 was installed:

- After the same page display order/scroll bar sync now happens in Foxit Reader 2.2 after downgrading to Foxit Reader 2.2. Previous testing between versions was on separate machines. I will look into 'cleaning' the registry to see if it is an inherited setting and provide feedback later.

I tried something here. Only one PC has this issue. On other machines everything works fine. So it does not seem to be a general problem.

Secondly, this problem occurs with every single pdf file.

Thirdly, this issue came up suddenly, shortly after applying SP 3 for Windows XP (might be accidental though).

After seeing this post it occurred to me that a number of updates were installed on my machine needing a reboot. I do not recall this problem before the updates. I cannot confirm this and I cannot rollback the updates.

Hi,

it would be interesting to hear from somebody who has already installed SP 3 for Windows XP but IS NOT experiencing those kind of problems/bugs.

Hi All and Christina,

I no longer have this problem :1_13: below are the steps I took:

1. Uninstalled Foxit Reader 2.3
2. Unregistered the Foxit PDF Reader Control. Using "Regsvr32.exe -u foxitpdfreaderctrl.dll"
3. Searched the registry in the "Classes Root" and "CLSID" for references to ".pdf", ".fdf" and deleted all with reference to Foxit.
4. Deleted "Foxit", "Foxit Software" and "Foxit Software Company" key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER sections of the registry.
5. Deleted the "Foxit" folders in "Program Files"
6. Rebooted computer.
7. Installed Foxit Reader 2.3.
8. Regsitered the Focit PDF Reader Control.

Now all my pdfs appear correctly :1_11::

- The scrollbar is at the top when a new document is opened.
- The scollbar move in the right way when using the mouse wheel or space or PgDn.
- The pages in the PDF do not display in reverse order when viewing in a multi-page layout.

So in summary complete removal of Foxit Reader and a re-install, resolved the issue.

Ciao,
Mnemoth

Hello Guess,

Please be sure you didn't use the Reverse View.

Hi,.

yes, you are right, reverse view was indeed activated. I don't know why. I never activated it myself - at least not intentionally. Great tip. Thanks.

I guess I know what caused this problem: Foxit Reader is unstable if opened for a longer period of time. The toolbars will totally mix up. If I press Alt+F8 everything goes back to default, which is OK. But the reverse view will also be activated.

Are you saying each time the toolbar bug happens, the reverse view is also activated? The toolbar bug will be fixed very soon.

Support, can you please report this reverse view bug if it is true?

I have another question: I'd like to display 2 pages on the screen, this works, but I can only get pages 1 and 2, 3 and 4 etc. What I needed, is pages 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 and 7 - like in a book. But I cannot find a setting for this...

Thanks for your reply.

Found it!
Had to check "Show Cover Page During Facing" in View Menu.

No doubt Mnemoth did a great job locating where the problem might reside. And finding a workaround to be able to go on using Foxit.

I have the same problem some of us seems to have with version 2.3 : mouse wheel, page-up / page-down and scroll bar working in the wrong direction. Which makes Foxit Reader pretty much unusable with documents large than 1 ou 2 pages.

Does anyone know whether Foxit is acknoledging there is a problem with 2.3 ? Working on finding where the problem lies and preparing any kind of bug fix or workaround ? Or do they leave us with alone with Mnemoth sympathatic but "not that straightforward" workaroud. Assuming what worked for him will work for us ???

Hello pbourdet,

So, how about Edit/Reverse View, active or unactive?
