View Full Version : reader 2.3 build 2923 VERY slow printing

i have a 135k pdf that i can read just great. but ... when i want to print it, foxit generates about 410mb in the printer spool.
this was a word document scanned by a minolta bizhub c250, converted to PDF and emailed automatically.
then i tried an (in all probability) original PDF and foxit was really quick again.
130k PDF generated a 3.6mb spool file.
i just wanted to say PDF isn't PDF. Obviously the bizhub generates a slightly different PDF format than say foxit or adobe.
hope this helps anyone with similar problems.
regards

Printing Foxit pdfs are extremely slow. Have a HP Laserjet 6P running MS XP Media Center Edition 5.01.2600 SP3. 1.5gb ddr. 1.8ghz, 256 L2 cache.

Hello godntexas,
Does this slow printing happen to all your pdf files? If it's a particular one, please send us a sample of this file for investigation.

Same here, printing takes several minutes per page for every single document using foxit, as opposed to adobe.
XP with a non networked HP laserjet 6P.
I'm just printing forms, but it's extremely long :(
Im not sure if i'm reading the infos right or if it's normal, but a 3mb form will end up in the printing queue as a 15mb doc.

Hello valster,
About the printing issue, normally the testing need a file sample and your printer info. It will be better if you could provide us those materials.
Incidentally, the printing issues sometimes are pretty weird. The testing team has tested heaps of times with numerous types of files, but the speeds of all output go in place. The printing performace has been greatly improved at our core library, and will be applied to the next version. Hope your issue can be fixed with its improved performance.

I have attached a sample. Although this has quite a bit going on, I've had similar problems printing .pdf for invoices I've receive which did not have any graphics.

I've just tried to print 30 copies of a 9 page document in duplex mode.
Page 1 of the 2nd copy was printed on the reverse of page 9 of the 1st copy.
Copy 2 finished an even number of sides, so copy 3 started a new page, then page 1 of copy 4 was printed on the reverse of page 9 of copy 3 etc - a total waste of paper.
It seemed like reader was sending a continuous stream of 30*9=270 pages to the printer rather than 9 pages with a copy count - the printer's display did not say "Copy x of 30".
No problem with Adobe 7.0.2.
John.

Hello John,
Please let us know your printer model and your operation system, as well as your printing settings. Thanks.
Is this a particular document printing issue or common to all your files?

Hello guys, thanks for your report. A new information came from our developer. The printing speed has been greatly improved for most documents with most printers except some special ones. We are trying our best to improve it.

This problem still exists in the latest version, it seems to be on HP laserjet printers as printing to another type is not affected.
See my post here, for more info.
