I just installed Foxit reader 2.3. I'm running WinXp with all the latest service packs and IE 7.
How do I get Foxit NOT to open pdf's in the IE browser when clicking on a pdf in a web link?
I've looked all over the Foxit settings and I can't seem to find out how to do this.

This may not help you as you are using IE 7. However, for firefox I use a plugin called PDF download. When I click on a pdf link a pop box appears giving me the options to download the pdf, open in browser window, or open in external application. Perhaps there is something like this for IE7.

Hello egads,
Sorry, there's no plugin for you to do what you are intended right now.

Greetings. I'm having serious issues with this bug, unrelated to Web browsing. I don't really know how to fix this, but this is annoying.
1. I need to access an array of documents constantly. I'm a law student, so I've arranged some statutes in electronic format, and I made a Vista toolbar for them (so, if I want an statute, I can press an icon, and I have a drop-down menu with my statute). This toolbar is actually a folder in my hard drive (no Internet browsing, no nothing).
2. With Acrobat Reader, the result was exactly the desired one: statutes opening in the reader, running standalone. As you know, however, Acrobat Reader memory usage is amazingly high.
3. With Foxit Reader, the result is strange: when I click on my statute, an Internet Explorer window opens, with my statute inside. The cost of opening an Explorer window is something I would like to avoid, specially because of:
a) There is an interface diference between standalone Foxit and the plugin. Standalone Foxit has an integrated search bar on top. With the plugin, I have to press Ctrl + F to enable it.
b) There is also a bug: when I try to close the opened Explorer, Foxit remains stucked and running in the background, consuming CPU. After two instances of badly-closed Internet-Explorer-with-a-Foxit-plugin showing my document, my CPU usage skyrocketed to 50%.
This, sirs, is with Foxit Reader 3. So, please, do something about it. Acrobat Reader is a memory hog, but I'll have to return to it, because Foxit has rendered itself unusable because of this combination of misfeatures and bugs.

Hello All,
I am glad to let you know, now you can 'set Foxit not to open pdf in IE browser window', simply by going to Edit/References/ Internet -> uncheck Display PDF in browser.
b) There is also a bug: when I try to close the opened Explorer, Foxit remains stucked and running in the background, consuming CPU. After two instances of badly-closed Internet-Explorer-with-a-Foxit-plugin showing my document, my CPU usage skyrocketed to 50%.
