We have found that when the exact same document exists with two distinct filenames in MOSS, only one result will be returned in search. For example, if I have a document "MyDoc.PDF" with a title of "Alpha Document" and I make a copy of it on my file system and rename it then upload both files so that I have the following:
Filename Title
-------- -------
MyDoc.pdf Alpha Document
MyDoc2.pdf Alpha Document
...if I search on "alpha" I will only get one result.
I am willing to live with this.
***However, we have also uploaded 10 other PDFs and tagged them with the same metadata. Searching on a metadata field that should return all documents results in only 3 being returned. The PDFs are:
version: PDF-1.2
producer: Acrobat Distiller 4.0 for Windows
they contain the same 3 fonts.
they all contain text when viewing in text mode and I can search for a word in that text within FoxIt Reader with no problem. NOTE: when searching in MOSS, we are searching on metadata and NOT full text.
Any help, comments or leads appreciated.
Thanks,
Michael
