I'm using version 1.3.0.1621 under Win XP and Firefox version1.5.0.4 .Foxit reader is registered for PDF files, and they will open fine outside of Firefox. Even works in IE. Any suggerstions?

Correct. There's no plugin for firefox in version 1.3.0.1621.
You must use PRO version or wait for version 2.0

If you are using foxit you can do the following:
Tools-->Options-->Downloads-->View & Edit Actions-->
Scroll to the PDF extension. If there is more than one action for PDF extensions remove all but one of the actions using the remove action button.
Select the one remaining PDF extension action and click the "change action" button.
Select the second radio button: Open then with this application.
Select browse, then find foxit.exe and select it.
You should now be able to have .pdf files open in foxit. This may result in a download window for the pdf and the launching of the foxit reader outside of firefox, regardless you now have pdf files handled by foxit and not adobe.

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but I have a somewhat related Firefox issue.
I'm actually HAPPY to open PDF's in Foxit, outside of Firefox. However something changed recently that broke even this behavior -- now I only get a Save As dialog for PDF files. I cannot open them at all without saving first and then opening them manually. I have NO Download Actions listed in Firefox either, so I'm not sure where the setting is screwed up.
I'm not certain but I think this broke around the time I tried the 2.0 beta. I had some issues with the beta and decided to revert to 1.3, and since then I can't open PDF's without saving them first.
Any ideas?
