Many vendor email invoices to me in pdf format which I print out using Foxit. I recently upgraded to v2.3 and I now occasionally get garbage printed (page after page of random non-alpha characters). The problem seems limited to Foxit v2.3. Past experience with this kind of problem points be towards a printer driver issues so I am wondering whether Foxit Reader would prefer a PS driver over the PCL6 driver I am currently using. The printer is a networked Xerox 3450 which I connect to via a Netgear print server port (OS is XP Pro SP2).

Hi BrianG,

Thanks for input. Yes, Foxit Reader support PS driver. You can have it a try. If problem still exists, please help to provide us the following info for testing:

1. The pdf file causing this garbage output.
2. Your printer info. Please use this too to get it:www.foxitsoftware.com/tools/Getprinterinfo.exe

It will be better, if you could please create a ticket at our support ticket :http://www.foxitsoftware.com/support/ticket/, so that we can serve you better in this matter. Thanks.

I know that Foxit Reader supports printing to a PS driver but I am still wondering if there is a preference between PS and PCL6 drivers. I believe that garbage printing has only occurred when printing with a PCL6 driver but I can't say for sure as the problem is very sporatic. I have also started getting a sense that it only occurs when the printer has been in power saving mode for awhile. With so little to go on I don't think a support ticket is appropriate.

Foxit Reader doesn't require the driver should be PS or PCL6. 'He' has no this preference. I test with PCL driver, but a pity, I can't make the garbage printing happened in my machine. Would you please provide us a screenshot of the garbage output and a copy of the pdf?

BTW, Doese this matter occur to every pdf and every time over PCL6 driver?

Thanks

I just had garbage printing occur when I attempted to print from IE6. That rules out Foxit Reader as the source of the problem. Again the printer had to wake up from power saver mode to print so that is where I am turning my attention.

Thanks for the responses.
