View Full Version : 【Bug】 Extremely slow printing

I recently installed Foxit Reader and really like the small size of the program and it’s speed. However, when I try to print something on my network printer (Oki C5800) printing takes for ever. I have to wait several minutes for a simple page. Checking on the internet I found that others have encountered the same problem.
I know it is not my printer or network setup because the printer works just fine when I print the same document with Acrobat Reader. However, I like Foxit and I don’t want to ditch it just yet. Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

I have a similar problem. When I click the print button the whole program "hangs" (toolbars go all white, program window can't be minimized or moved) for about 1 to 3 minutes before the print dialog finally pops up. Several of my configured printers are network printers (Ricoh, HP) if that's relevant. Once the dialog appears printing is fairly snappy and happens as quickly as I'd expect.
This is with v2.3.3201. I'm aware there are newer builds and I have not tried with that yet so I'll phone in again once I try the newer version.

Forget it … I just found a pdf reader that is even smaller and even starts up faster than Foxit. Plus it has no printing problem. Try it guys, it's a better solution than waiting for a fix, you will love the minimalistic design.

SumatraPDF.exe from http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/download.htmlSumatra PDF might be good, but I doubt that it has all of the capabilities of Foxit Reader.

It doesn’t have all of the capabilities, I agree. And I still like Foxit’s design and UI much better. However, since I work a lot with PDFs and often need to make printouts, I will stick with Sumatra until the bug is fixed. I think they will work on it because this bug is certainly a serious deterrent that will keep people like me from buying the full version.

Same problem here.
Panasonic KX-MB271 laser printer/copier (latest driver/ software),
XP Pro sp2,
nVidea nForce5 MB chipset,
2GB memory,
FoxIt V2.3 (3309).
NO viruses, spyware, or other bloat running in background. Only one anti-virus program running.
Sending the same job to a inkjet printer (Canon i560) is lighting fast. 1 second for the whole four pages. To this Laser printer, it takes 8-9 seconds PER PAGE just to send the data! :1_22:
I updated the software program and drivers for the printer and no difference. I found a old version of Acrobat Reader (V5.05) from Oldversion.com and copied just the "Reader" folder to program Files. Sent the SAME document to the same printer. Zip, 1-2 seconds per page to send the data.
Man, doesn't anyone test this first?? I don't like that bloated AR which is why I'm trying this (and why I looked for a smaller older version of AR for a comparision). I do like the program, but this is unacceptable. Operating System:
* OS : Microsoft Windows XP(Service Pack 2)
* Ver: 5.1(2600)
" Panasonic KX-MB271 GDI ".

Just to add.
This is my first laser printer. I assumed it was the printer or cables. I tried different cables, tried other document, but with all the same results. 8-9 seconds PER PAGE transfer time.
Mind you, I'm NOT talking about the actual printing speed, just the time it takes to send the data,
Also, these are mixed pages of text or text and drawings. These are NOT high resolution color photos or complicated drawings.
The speed is so slow, sometimes the printer has to wait for the next page to get sent as it already has printed the previous pages.

Hello All, sorry for the inconveniences caused to you. Our developers are working on such issues. To help our developers to quickly reprodue the problem and figure out the reason, we need your help provide us more info as following except for printer info:
1. A copy of the file that ever encountered this slow printing.
2. Your computer info. This tool will get it: www.foxitsoftware.com/tools/getcomputerinfo.exe .
3. Other more info that's helpful to repro.
Thanks a lot!

SumatraPDF prints by converting the page into graphic, which cause the print size to be huge and therefore slow to process it. However, if Foxit is having problem printing, then the ability of being able to print is better then not able to prints. For me, I just stick with Adobe for printing...at least for now until Foxit fixed the printing problem.

Hi all,
I got also an extremely slow printing for my document.
But I found how to circumvent this.
When I received my printer a laser LEXMARK E322 I installed the driver from the manufacturer
