I really enjoy the Foxit Reader experience in Firefox where pdf documents are opened in Foxit Reader and not in Firefox by default. I click a pdf link and it opens in Foxit Reader.
Is there a way to duplicate this behavior in IE7? A site I use for work will generate pdf documents but in IE7 it opens directly in IE7 and move me away from the page I was working on. There is no link to right click and save as because it is a button.

A user option will be added for you to do it within IE. Per schedule, it should be added into version3.0, but somehow it's scrubbed. Maybe it will be added in next version. Thanks.

I will try to re-word this as I understand your comment Cristina.
Does it mean that an option was planned for version 3.0 but it is not there?

Sorry for my unclear writing. You're right, that option is unavailable in version 3.0, while it will be added in our future vesions. Thanks.

I just can't understand what is so difficult about this! Foxit Reader USED to open OUTSIDE of IE in older versions. Why can't it just be made an option?!?

Does my hack detailed in http://www.foxitsoftware.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=13607&postcount=11 still work with the new Foxit 2.3 and IE7? You can try testing it and let us know. The hack works on Foxit 2.1 & 2.2 / IE6 & Maxthon / XPPro-SP2 & SP3. It may or may not work on Vista.
There are two parts to the hack. Part one deals with the "EditFlag" which causes the dialog box to appear. Part two deals with the "LocalServer32" which selects between IE6 & Foxit as the opening application. The hack is very messy but is fully reversible. It should be safe to apply if you follow my instructions.

I think, there are reasons for this option don't be added in v3.0. The developers would lke to make all options requested by people in the version if everything goese well. Thanks for your understanding in advance.

Alvian - your hack is very difficult to deploy to many machines.
The registry hack is of course possible to distribute - but how about the security changes?
Can that be done as a workaround while FoxitSoftware rethinks a solution?

Boz - is that older versions of IE or older versions of FoxitReader?

Bernskov, see this Microsoft page for an automated method to change registry permissions.
How to: Use a Script to Change Registry Permissions from the Command Line (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=245031)
The RegINI.exe utility is included in XP. (http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthread.php?t=273249) No need to buy the NT4 Resource Kit.
Once you've figured out how to do it, why don't you post the batch file solution to the forum?
Alvian.
