When I install PDF creator, it initially adds an icon to my MS Word 2007. I can only use this icon to create PDF files if I want hyperlinks to be preserved.
However, the addin icon regularly disappears, requiring me to reinstall PDF Creator repeatedly. The problem is getting worse. I have done the research in the Word Help files for enabling addins, but this doesn't have any effect on the behavior. Please provide a workaround that doesn't involve me reinstalling PDF creator every time I want to use it. thanks, Katie |

Hi Katie, Pease be more specific on this issue;
1. ...the addin icon regularly disappears... How does the com addon disappear? Go away from the Word toolbar or just greyed? can you find it by right clicking on the word toolbar? 2. ..requiring me to reinstall PDF Creator repeatedly... Do you get any alarm message? Make a screenshot of it for us, please. 3. ... enabling addins..... Can you please let me know your step to enable it? Thanks in advance . Christina

1. The add-in icon disappears (meaning it goes away completely). It isn’t there. 2. No alarm messages. 3. Enabling Add-ins: a. Word 2007: Office Button, Word Options, Add-ins. b. Select “COM Add-ins” from the “Manage” drop-down. c. Click “GO”. d. Check the box next to “Foxit PDF Creator COM Add-in”. i. note: this is complete. Even though this is selected, the add-in icon still does not appear. e. In addition, I have gone to the Microsoft Office 2007 Trust center as follows: i. Office button, Word Options, Trust Center. ii. “Trust Center Settings” button. iii. Foxit software is a “Trusted Publisher”. iv. Note: under “Trusted Publishers”, viewing the Thawte Code Signing CA, under the “General” tab, the certificate information says that “Windows does not have enough information to verify this certificate” v. Under the “Certification Path” tab, Certificate Status says “Issuer of this certificate could not be found.” f. Added “c:\program files\foxit” software to “Trusted Locations”. g. Deselected all checkmarks under “Add-ins”. |

Thank you Christina.
This being Word 2007, I suspect there are security wrinkles to iron out between PDF Creator and Office. I'll check back here periodically for updates. I really only care about this issue when I'm creating a PDF file from a document containing href links. I love PDF Creator, though. I think the model of offering separate applications to handle different PDF functions is a really good idea! |

Hi katiecat,
Our developer tell me this is an issue related to UAC. Please currently try this way to see if it will work in you part: 1. Close UAC 2. Reinstall Foxit Creator 3. Enable Foxit Add-on in Word 4. Enable UAC. Please let me know the result. Thanks. Our developer will keep probing into this issue.

Thanks, Christina. You may want to include a complete spelling of any Acronyms you reference in the Forums, in case your customers don't understand what you mean.
UAC doesn't seem to be the problem. It has been turned off all this time (prior to several reinstallations) and I confirmed again that it is turned off. So. The problem isn't related to UAC (on this computer at least). Perhaps another product ... |

One more thing:
The problem occurs whether on a Vista or XP machine. UAC was implemented in Vista only, right? I believe this is related to Office 2007, not Operating system. |

Up to now, we find the problem only in visa + Office 2007. Do you have the problem in XP + Office 2007 too?

Hi Christina,
The problem happens regardless of operating system. I suspect this is something that occurs with Office 2007. Thanks, katie |
