Default Refund Question

Hi there,

I just received my eSlick today, but after trying it a little, I realized that it's not for me and I'd like to return it. Everything is in original condition, except I had to take SD card out of its packaging in order to try out eSlick.

The refund guidelines state that everything has to be in its original condition, and I am wondering if that includes the SD card, and if it's going to affect anything. Even though the card is not in its original packaging, it is in perfect shape, as is the machine.

thanks,

Well, the main reason I wasn't happy with the device is the zoom rates. If you have a pdf file where the text is perfectly centered in the middle, you can easily zoom in by 150% and the text becomes fairly readable. However, not all ebooks are aligned in the center, and some books even alternate their alignments from page to page. As I tried out the device, I realized that after zooming in I had to navigate to read the miniscule amount of text that gets cut off on every page. At the current reflow rates, this involves a lot of waiting around. Most pages required 6 reflows to get the entire text.

My choice was either to view the book at the barely legible 100% zoom, or to make it readable at the cost of a lot of effort and shuffling around.

That said, though, I am probably not the most usual readers. I have a lot of programming and technical books, which have smaller than usual text, especially for formulas, I read faster, and do a lot of jumping around as I read. I can see that eSlick would be helpful if I were to read an old classic. But I was hoping it would be more than that.

So my advice is to figure out what kind of reader you are, what kind of books you read, how they are formatted, and how much patience you have for waiting for the page to reflow. Based on those, you can make a good decision for yourself. I'll stick with my netbook to read my ebooks for now, at least until the reflow rates and zoom factors improve.

Did you refund your money? Right now I'm confuse. How do I know if the PDF ebook has a good format? The books that I read are Java,Database,Agile ,Software Engineer and Java Open Source frameworks. Also I have some .CHM Ebooks and I'm planning to convert it into PDF.

Thanks for your advice.

You didn't try "fit content width"? Together with landscape mode, I believe most pdf can be displayed with good size. Zoom and move is never a good method to read.
Or you can try to crop the white margins with adobe acrobat or other software.

The final solution is buy iRex, all these problems will gone in a 8" or 10" screen. Of course, that means a much more expensive price tag.

I'm actually thinking about getting this ebook reader for the same reasons as you joseandrew. Looks like I'll be reading the same books as you + magazines / such. I find it annoying to lug around the textbook or read the PDF on my iphone. I've been looking between this and sony's prs-700bc, seeing as those are the only two devices that remotely seems capable of handling PDFs. I'm about to preorder mine as well, and I'd like to know about the return policy as well.

Would it be a full return or a partial? I also don't understand why there is a $50 non refundable deposit, if someone wishes to cancel their order. It would save shipping times on both parties.

There is no $50 deposit anymore. It's full price.

Ahh, I guess the site hasn't been updated.

"The eSlick will be shipped out in 4 weeks after your order."
The email isn't updated as well right? On the website it said orders will be shipped around April 10th, I just placed my order yesterday so four weeks later would mean a month later. Just confirming.

Thanks for the reply!
