Default Out of memory/page fault error

I've just downloaded the Foxit reader version 1.30, build 617 on my 266MHz P-II machine with 288MB RAM running Win98SE. I extracted, opened the program, and set it as the default program for pdfs.

Every time I've tried to open a pdf file I get an immediate "Out of memory" error window, followed by "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor." Details show that FOXITREADER caused an invalid page fault in module FOXITREADER.EXE at 0167:0040e4d0.

I've tried a new download, a fresh boot, opening pdf's from the already-started Foxit vs just double-clicking the pdf.

Does anyone have an idea what might cause this? Foxit has such a good reputation, and I have such a small computer....

We are looking into this issue for Win98. For unknown reasons so far, users get such error message, click "OK", get rid of the error message, then it works just fine.
