Default FoxitReader and BartPE?

Hi,
Does anyone use Foxitreader with BartPE?
I have been trying to setup FoxitReader with my BartPE disk and have found a problem with the path and name that is written to the registry by Foxit.
If I add the correct path and name to the registry, when Foxit is run it overwrites this with different settings as below.

Original : X:\Programs\FOXITREADER\FOXITREADER.EXE,1

After being run : X:\Programs\FOXIT~2C\FOXITR~2.EXE,1

The 2C and 2 can change according to the amount of other software that is added in the BartPE build.

The lines in question are used to locate the app and the icon for file association in the browsers.
Also if I look at the running processes with Task Manager it is shown as FOXITR~2.EXE
Has anyone had this problem?

Exclamation DOS filenames

Unusual app to have in a PE build... none of my business though.

I'd guess the ~ stuff is caused by burning the PE image with DOS filenames enabled [this brings all filenames to the 8.3 standard]. Try relaxing some of the restrictions when you burn the ISO.

Hi,
Thank you Fatman for your thoughts on this problem. You have put me on to a work around for the problem.

I have just shortened the path and file name to FOXIT and all is well.

The problem still exits with FoxitReader and BartPE as the file system is set to long file names. No other software in the build having long file names or paths is affected with this problem.

Thank you again for taking the time to give a suggestion.

I don't think so. The culprit is Foxit Software and their fondness for shortened path names. The only workaround (not only for Bart PE builds) is to use short folder names if you want to avoid trouble.
