PDF text search worked until recently. Not sure when but a tester on our team brought this to my attention. We are on MOSS SP1 on Windows Server 2003.
When I search the crawl logs I see this: Crawled (The filtering process could not process this item. This might be because you do not have the latest file filter for this type of item. Install the corresponding filter and retry your crawl. ) I have tried to stop and start search and repair the installation through control panel. Still doesn't work. Any ideas as to why this broke. |

Well looks like I fixed it. These are the steps I took
1. uninstalled and reinstalled ifilter 2. ran iisreset /noforce 3. net stop osearch 4. net start osearch 5. start full crawl and it worked. I think what fixed it was the net stop osearch and net start osearch. Hopefully this will help someone else. |

I had the same problem.
I neglected to copy the license key file to the installation directory after paying for the licenses. I did have to deinstall and reinstall completely it as you suggested. Thanks for the tip! Jeff |
