I have some issues related to double-sided, multiple pages per sheet printing:
I was trying to print (DS-2PS-BSS): - double-sided (DS) - 2 pages per sheet (2PS) - binding on the short side (BSS) The default setting for the printer was (DS-1PS-BLS): - double-sided (DS) - 1 page per sheet (1PS) - binding on the long side (BLS) 1. some of the setting changes don't seem to be detected: If I use the Print dialog to change my settings from (DS-2PS-BSS) to (DS-1PS-BLS) what I get is (DS-1PS-BSS), the old number of pages per sheet and the new binding side. 2. external changes to the default setting generate errors: If I try to change the default settings through the Printers in Control Panel and then start Foxit Reader, more often than not the application will crash with a "The instruction at "0x77f5edd8" referenced memory at "0x01cbe000". ..." type message. After a few more tries I managed to get Foxit Reader to print double-sided, 2 pages per sheet, but the binding side was wrong. Unfortunately the Canon IR 3320 printer I have to use here is VERY slow when printing double sided pdf documents, so I cannot do more tests. My setup is: Foxit Reader 1.3 Beta Build 0708 OS: W2K Professional, SP4 Printer: Canon IR 3320 Regards, Grigore |

I tried it again today on a Fuji Xerox model FX Document Centre C400.
First I set up the FX printer to print double sided, 2 pages per side, flip on the short edge. Test 1: I was using a different printer as the default printer (an old HP that doesn't handle double sided printing) before starting the Foxit Reader, so I had to change the printer in the Print dialog first. I didn't change any of the printer settings before printing. Test 2: I set up the FX printer as the default, then I started the Foxit Reader and tried to print. Again, I didn't change any of the printer settings before printing. In both cases the result was single sided, 2 pages per side. Regards, Grigore |
