I see that 3.2, in the .zip version, now has a big red 'Ask' button next to the search box. I will NEVER search from within Foxit, and certainly never do so via Ask. How can I delete this unwanted 'addition' without removing the search box completely?

Sorry, it's embeded in the search toolbar, cannot be disabled separately.

I hated the internet search button in V 3.1
I hated that I couldn't delete it.
I hated that if I couldn't delete it, I also couldn't change the Search Engine.

But at least I didn't have to look at that BIG RED ASK BUTTON.
And the internet search button used to be all the way to the left, not right in front of the toolbar.

I'd like to upgrade to V 3.2 even though I think $19 is too much for only one year.

But I won't upgrade until I can remove that Big Red Button.

Absolutely annoying.

Are the programmers absolutely stupid?
Or is this a 'stuff you' attitude, our allegiance is to the Ask Company not our paying customers.
I really feel like I've been stabbed in the back by Foxit Software.

When you install the zipped or msi version you are asked if you want the Ask toolbar but then it gets installed anyway.

Wakey, wakey programmers it's time to be professional.

It bothered me too actually because I too unchecked the box on installing to not have the Ask toolbar, and when I saw it there on the Foxit toolbar I uninstalled it again to try again, and again, it was still there each time, and so thinking that someone pulled a fast one I uninstalled Foxit completely because of the misunderstanding, if it was one.

It's a way to get a lot of $$ hits to ask.com, but most of us when we click that Ask near Find button, at first we just want to find a word in the document and instead we get taken online and don't like it.

In my very humble opinion I don't think that was a good idea to put that there at all - I'm sure I'm not the only one who will request for that clickable Ask icon to be taken far away from that Find box, agreed! Thank you.

Two things occurred during my last update of Foxit: 1) The amount of time needed to open the application increased by a few seconds (about 3-4 seconds on my machine). 2) The red Ask button was added to the toolbar, with no way to remove it.

I liked Foxit Reader because it was an alternative to Adobe Reader. I am totally willing to put up with slightly slower performance, because I believe that Foxit is generally faster than Adobe, and continues working to increase speed/performance. I am also fond of Foxit Reader, because it introduced me to Foxit -- a company with great hardware and software products.

What I will NOT put up with is the addition of adware that coincided with (and probably caused) a decrease in performance. I am now switching to another PDF viewer.

Hi Ellen,
I would like to know if version 3.2.1.0401 is considered the "next version"?

In other words, does it allow to remove the red Ask button ?

And also, is 3.2.1.0401 fixing the bug from this thread; http://forums.foxitsoftware.com//showthread.php?t=17891
("Restore last used panel state when reopening" option does not work. I have it checked, and I hide the navigation panel, but when I restart Foxit Reader, the nav panel opens again.)

Please let us know.
Thanks,

TSR

Hi all,
Sorry for that.
3.2.1 is our emergency vulnerability Fixed version not in the bug fixed & feature to-do list plans,so do not fix the some known bugs that were supported to be fixed .
PS:more issue about Ask Toolbar, please refer to here:http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ie/index.html#na4

This is unbelievable! Seems that the word 'Ethics' will someday be completely replaced by 'Capitalism'. May I bring Michael Moore's attention to this 'software'?

Installed the latest version on a Windows Server 2003 that *CANNOT* have his many Internet Explorer instances closed. I was *NOT* warned about this browser addon and when I try to uninstall I have to close all IE windows.

This is certainly NOT the way to make any money. Goodbye, I'm telling many others about it.
