  • Reader doesn't check for updates on demand

I clicked on the check for updated and got a dialog box. The text is at the bottom.

This option is both useless and annoying. I am running Reader 7.x and I know 8.0 is out so why didn't it download the update if there's an update and the option is to automatically download updates?
Also what are the tips that it mentions? Where are they? Put a link to them in the dialog box.

I just went ahead and downloaded 8 manually and not deal with this dialog box.

Foxit Reader has already been in auto update mode with the option "Automatically download updates, but let me choose when to install them (recommended)" checked. Please install updates according to the tips.

When encounter the prompt, you could open Task Manager and navigate to Process tab and end the process 'FoxitUpdater.exe' then try again, you will find the update after killing the process. Or you could download version 8 from below link.
