Since Foxit is a slim Linux based PDF reader, I see a great potential to make a Foxit application for Android devices. Are there any plans already to do so?
There is currently a wide-spread need for a PDF reader on Android devices such as the G1, and whether free or not, many customers would want this app. |

I would also like to see an Android version of Foxit and I'm betting lots of other G1 owners would too. So far the choices of PDF readers are pretty poor and as Foxit Reader is the best choice in the computer world it would be the top choice in the Android world even if Adobe were to port version. I hope it comes out soon to fill the void!

It's a shame you have forfeited this idea. I don't know why you did at the time since I hear that Android is perfectly capable of PDF viewing with multiple free and paid apps that can do it.
I took the liberty of creating this GUI mock-up for if yo were to recommence an Android version of Foxit Reader: ![]() I like my GUI mock-up but some may disagree. I create it this way because I dislike how many Android developers seem to stick with the same ole drab native Android look in their apps. Anyway for Foxit Reader mobile you should include: *Support for Multi-Touch *Pinch Zooming (Multi-touch) *Possible support for multi-tab opening of PDF's (see Opera Mobile visual tabs) *A history list of multiple PDF's *A transparent banner showing PDF filename, that could scroll long filename or truncate it. Banner can easily be disabled. *More other intuitive features for users *Lot's of Settings (default zoom, auto-scrolling, disable images, pdf screen capturing etc.) so that we get the best PDF viewing experience on mobile just like we can on the Windows version. My GUI mock-up is also cross-platform so that if you decide to make an Iphone version then you could maintain and use the same cross-platform GUI. Good luck on your decision. not sure if this is still alive, but one of the features i really would like to see in an pdf reader for android is the ability to add notes, comments and highlight sections of text.
i am a lawyer and i had planned to use a tablet for holding all of my contracts and client docs. so making notes on the pdf's would be really useful. |
