This is a mini review as it would be unfair to Foxit, the Eslick and any who are waiting for a review to describe otherwise. Loaded a .pdf book of some 600 plus pages on the unit (not the sdcard ) have presently read 136 pages. wqill not name the book for personal reasons. The page of text took 2 and 3/4 pages at 24 pixels, my preferences due to poor eyesight. I have stopped at least 10 times, sometimes shutting the unit off, other times the unit after a short time shutting down on it's own to conserve battery drain. The reading of the text was of no strain as it is with my Flatscreen LCD. At certain time the last letter or two of a word was carried to the next line. I pesonally found no iratation with this. The buttons were easy to learn and use. I have tried some other .PDF books that would not load properly due to the format of converting them to .PDF's. Pictures or photocopies of text and actual text are two different animals and should not be faulted with Eslick. Pictures such as front Bookcovers and illustration are display very well. I find that large books need to be created not just with pdf in mind but as some have already stated with the E-reader (Eslick) considered. The free books at websites (text and pdf) work fine as far as i can tell. The Fontsize, Landscape, and Reflow all work exceptionally well. Cons include I should of got a gray one, The black shows every little smudge. Sometimes it returns to where you left off and sometimes it hangs at a certain spot for a while. The book selected reopened at page 15 three times while I was way ahead in the book. The next time reopened at 74 repeatedly, this perhaps might be due to something I'm not doing.

I am very satisfied with Eslick as a whole, It has brought some of the plaesure back to reading.

I received mine on Wednesday and have read around 400 pages on it with no eye strain problem.

I have had a minor problem with it skipping backwards on occasion (maybe 5-10 times total).. But nothing too bad. Normally it happens when in reflow mode.

The button quality is good enough for the price paid. the main forward/backward button (the big one on the face) is right and little "clicky", but works.

Speed seems to work well. I did buy a 4GB high speed SDHC card and it was read just fine in the unit. Funny actually because my old card reader for my desktop PC couldn't read it. I had to use my newer laptop.

Transferring directly to onboard memory or SD card installed in the unit via USB is NOT recommended. I do suggest using an SD card and pulling it out and plugging that directly into a computer.

The book browser is good, but if you have all your books in the main folder, it's VERY slow going. I highly recommend using folders on your SD card. I set mine up like so:

Book Type/Genre
> author
> book title

Also if the title of the book it's self is long, you probably need to rename it. Many of my eBooks were titled like:
author name - series name - book name.pdf.

Since I started using foldering, I just renamed the books:
## - Book Name.pdf (## being the book number if applicable)


Also, for a case I went to office depot and found a smaller zippered pad holder for around $12 (USD) which fits it very well for carrying about.

The Foxit eSlick is the size of a thin mass market paperback, has a huge battery life, and is compatible with a healthy variety of file types. Its reasonable price tag makes us comfortable with the idea of reverting back to a wired eBook reader. After all, who really needs a 600-page novel at a moments notice. yet i guess 600 pages would be too much for the system?

Foxit's eSlick handles PDFs better than any other e-book reader, but it's missing many features found on competing readers. Sony's and Amazon's devices are better values. Currently, native support only for PDF and TXT files; screen displays only four gray levels; no keyboard; stiff buttons. :(

I don't know what you are talking about, Foxit cut their teeth when they developed a lightweight PDF reader as an alternative to Adobe’s. Now they bring their expertise to the eBook reader market with the Foxit eSlick. Nobody is going to deny that the Kindle, Sony PRS 700, or the iRex 1000S are enviable eBook readers. But, the Foxit eSlick reader manages to beat them all in the price category while still bringing a solid feature set well suited to readers of every stripe.

Clunky. The screen broke after 4 months of normal use. This was outside the pathetic 90 day warranty. Foxit want me to pay oversease postage and $109 to get a new screen if I want it fixed. Good money after bad, if you ask me. I'll be buying a kindle instead. Better features and a decent one year warranty on ALL parts. See ya foxit.

I understand that. But e-ink itself is a fragile product, same on other ereader. If there are external forces on the device, it will instantly suffer a physical damage, and the glass substrate under the screen will be broken. At this point, the e-ink screen is unfixed. The only way to repair it is to replace it a new screen. And the $109 is what the manufacture ask for.

I am not going to convince you, but if you would send the device back, I will take it apart and take some images to to show how the glass substrate is damaged.
