  • Bug Multiline selection problem on iPad Foxit Mobile PDF v.1.5.1

    Dear Sir / Madam,

I use Foxit Mobile PDF v.1.5.1 on my New iPad (iOS v.5.1.1, no JB)

Everything is fast and smooth except when I want to select multiline to take some annotation or note.

In screenshot 1, as long as I want to select across the first and second line, it automaticly extends to block selection.

I just can't adjust to the text I exactly want.

(If I select one line by one line, it works fine. But there will be two records in annotation list, that's not what I want since they should be logically the same one)

Besides, in screenshot 2, if I go further across to the third line, I could adjust text in the third line. (But the problem happens again on the fourth line)

It seems that the text selection has double line height compared with the PDF content.

I have tried many PDF files from different sources, including O'Reilly, Manning Pub., ..., and so on, but they all have this problem.

BTW, They are all no DRM-ed. Some are secured and some are not, but they all have this problem.

Is there anyway to solve this problem ?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Chien

      Hi cherry,

      Thanks for your quickly response.

I have sent you a private message with a Dropbox link of the sample PDF. Please check the PM.

I have checked it with Adobe Reader 9.5.1 on my Ubuntu Linux desktop, no secured.

If I open it in Foxit Mobile PDF, the multiline selection problem occurs. (But Adobe Reader app v.10.3 for iPad works fine)

Furthermore, I generate another test PDF with LibreOffice. (no secured, as attachment next line)

      LibreOfficeGenerated.pdf

This file works fine in Foxit Mobile PDF and I can even select any single letter I want.

      Regards,

      Chien

        Hi cherry,

After trying many times, I noticed that the problem always occurs while the right boundary meeting the left boundary of text selection.

In the following pictures, if I just want to select one more word (the red one), the selection will automaticly extend to select all the two lines.

Maybe you could also check the relative postion rules of the left and right boundaries ?

        Regards,

        Chien

                Hi cherry,

After updated to v.1.5.3 today, this bug has been fixed and text selection is even more precise.

Now this thread could be marked as [Resolved].

Thanks a lot for the patch! It's really impressive.

I do recommend it to everyone who needs a nice PDF reader.

Maybe the support of Adobe Content Server DRM PDF will be the next millstone ? ;D

                Regards,

                Chien
