  • Feature Foxit icon vs thumbnail in Windows Explorer

    In Windows 7 Explorer, some PDF's appear as thumbnails with the Foxit icon in the lower right corner, some appear as the Foxit icon only. What causes the difference, and how can I make them all thumbnails?

      System is win7/64. This is a snapshot of the PDF icons in one of my files. I would like to have thumbnails for everything.

        I suspect the "Shell Extentions" is not installed completely so it caused this issue.Would you mind uninstalling Foxit PhantomPDF manually and reinstalling it by checking "Shell Extentions" during installation process and give it a try?
        You do not need to re-activate the license code as long as you install it in the same directory as previous installation.

          I uninstalled and installed using the "complete" option. I was not presented with a "shell extensions" option. No change. Do I need to do a custom install to see this option?

            You do not need to do a custom install, this option is checked by default.Please locate to C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF\Shell Extensions, if you can find the FoxitPDFInfo.dll file which means you already install it.
            For further analysis, may i know which edition and version number of Foxit PhantomPDF do you use?

              FoxitPDFInfo.dll exists. Standard version 5.1.2.0305

                  From this thread http://forums.foxitsoftware.com/show...ail-generation, it seems Foxit does not generate thumbnail as icons on 64-bit system at all. I'm curious how did you manage to get some thumbnails, if not all.

                    @jianglai
                    The thumbnail feature does not work stable on 64-bit system, some works, some not works.And our developers are working on it, hope it could be improve in future update.

                    The thumbnail feature does not work stable on 64-bit system, and some content of files are not allowed to be previewed then it will show as phantom icon, for example, secured pdf file.

                      Any update here? The latest Foxit says:

                      Display thumbnails of PDF files in Windows Explorer.
                      Shows a preview of the current document view.

                      But I still can't get PDF thumbnails showing in explorer. I use Windows 8 64-bit.
