How do I disable Foxit 11's new "Format tab"?

Foxit team has to aknowledge that the v11 has been published too early while it should have still been a beta version.

They should, but considering that they're still selling it for full price on their website, I'm not holding my breath...

I appreciate that the customer service agents are concerned about our experience. However, considering that a hotfix has not been offered, refunds are being refused, and it's still for sale on the website as if there was no problem, I have to assume that the folks who actually make the decisions are not particularly concerned.

The next release version 11.1 has improved the format pane design in a better way. If everything goes well, we should be able to see the new version late this month or early next month. You may keep an eye out for it at your convenience. Thank you.

Hello, when will version 11.1 be available if everything DOESN'T go well? This panel is driving me barmy and constantly having to kill it is worsening my RSI.

I'm sorry your team put a lot of work into this panel, but maybe it's time to accept that it has major problems and you need to push a hot fix that makes it stop appearing constantly. Honestly, I'm amazed that anyone could ever think it's a good idea to make something appear on top of other menus and make this beyond the user's control.

It's pretty clear that they're not going to put out a hotfix at this point. If it's causing you medical issues, I'd suggest either using version 10 or switching to one of the other options out there, some of which have been mentioned in this thread. (I'm guessing that worsening your RSI could potentially cost you a lot more than whatever money you've spent on Foxit 11.)

Lots of apologies, but no hotfix and no refunds... the customer service folks care about our experience, but the folks who actually make the decisions apparently do not. (Or maybe they're too busy closing format panels to do anything else...)

I see that the expected release date - if all goes well - has slipped from "late this month or early next month" to "next month". The original guess of November may have been accurate.

I'm assuming that in the course of 4 months this will be a major upgrade with tons of bug fixed and new features. I personally reported 47 bugs and feature requests with the v11.0 so can you please tell me which one will be implemented or fixed?

The bizarre thing is that in Foxit Phantom 9.7, it was possible to stop the format panel from showing until the user wanted it. So someone at Foxit knows (knew?) how to do that. There should be a setting added to Preferences giving the user some control over whether and when the panel shows up.

I should add that the program's inability to do this is very Microsoftian: "We know what's best for you!" Try a little Burger King: "Have it your way."

I can't imagine that any of the developers would be incapable of doing it - it's not that hard. It is rather bizarre that someone thought it would be a good idea to remove this functionality while greatly increasing the size of the panel. (I'm assuming that if the current behavior was not intentional, they would have just fixed it, not redesigned the whole thing.)

Adding one vote to the discussion. The new format is FAR from customizable, and very intrusive. I will be moving to a different PDF reader as Foxit has severely let me (us) down on this occasion.
Also waiting MONTHS for something small as tweaking a format panel is ridiculous.
