I like the new format panel, but there needs to be an obvious way to open it manually, and it shouldn't automatically reopen every time I even think about doing something. I think I've closed it about 20 times in the past minute, and it's getting obnoxious enough that I'm starting to contemplate either rolling back to version 10 or using a different editor until it's fixed.
Update: It's mostly staying closed if I stay within one file, but every time I switch to a different file it opens it up again. Considering that I'm trying to combine multiple files, that's not good.
Aaaand... now it's crashing, and it gave me an error when it tried to send the pdf file I was working on. I'm not sure if the crash had anything to do with me closing the format panel every second or two, or if it was just coincidence, but I've rolled back to version 10.Last edited by kkietzke; 06-11-2021, 11:46 PM.

Hi,
Here's another one who's sad about the constant popping up of the format panel.
My problem is: if you have many textboxes to edit (like when you have a list of tasks and a textbox after each row with a percentage) and you have to jump from textbox to textbox going through the list, but still need to see most of the screen. The task title is at the left egde of the document, the percentage towards the right edge. Horizontal scrolling with open format panel is bad because you can lose the row with your eyes. The other option is to zoom out, but then texts get to small.
Why not add an extra tab to the ribbon at the top of the screen? It could be either a dedicated tab which is always there or one that appears upon clicking on the object, like it does in MS Word.
Apart from that annoying panel, that's a great piece of software you have there and i really like using it. Keep up the good work

Hi everyone,
I'm here just to highlight that i feel the same way about this new feature. It is really bad and time consuming. Love Foxit Reader and have been using it for a while now. This is the first time that i had the need to come here and talk about a feature that it is no usefull and does not have a workaround.
Hope you guys fix it soon.

Hello everyone,
I'm here to second the complaints about this issue.
It has become impossible to work on documents with many notes, especially if you have to frequently switch between them.
For the time being, I'll have to resort to other PDF readers, despite the fact that for me the new UI looks really nice!
Hope you are able to fix this issue soon.
Thank you!
Edit: the format toolbar would be a really helpful feature if you could just open it manually.

Super long-time user. I was there at the beginning and am ALWAYS grateful for a working PDF application. Foxit has always worked better than the other versions, even paid versions of popular programs that I own. My ongoing complaint has always been the need to reformat and personalize after every update! Please keep my preferences.
I updated today hoping that the primary functions would not be disrupted and that my workflow would remain excellent in the program. Sadly, the format box makes the program all but unusable. I already have to spend endless hours annotating papers and this is now completely disrupted.
The prior ability to open the formatting or anything else one needed to do in the ribbon as needed was excellent and seamless with other ribbon based interactions across programs.
This current iteration is a total disruption of workflow. Further, the ability to learn the application and use it across updates should RARELY be disrupted. When a user takes an action in a flow of work, NEVER disrupt it! Let the user choose to open and change things when needed on their own, then they can set and forget...and work quickly.
11 is uninstalled. I have days of work to do. I am going back to 10. I hope you can return to a more user workflow-focused application.Last edited by danmirage; 06-19-2021, 01:24 AM.

I have just signed up to say that I agree with what people say here. The format panel should have an option to close it unless it is needed again, as others have mentioned. I like the modern new design, but I'm gonna have to go back to the previous version. Please keep me informed when this "issue" is solved.
