  • Quick Access Toolbar registry customizations for v12

This KB https://kb.foxitsoftware.com/hc/en-u...cuts-locations references the QAT location as
"Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor 11.0\Ribbon\Ribbon Quick Access Toolbar"

The customization wizard for v12 shows a new new "Foxit PDF Editor 12.0" folder under HKCU. This then raises the concern of existing customizations located in "Foxit PDF Editor 11.0" being retained when we run the update to v12 on v11x machines? We do allow end users to edit their QATs so do not want to run into these being lost.

    Thanks!

The current workaround is that you may export the registry for version 11.x under "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor 11.0\Ribbon\Ribbon Quick Access Toolbar" then change it to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor 12.0\Ribbon\Ribbon Quick Access Toolbar" then export to the end user's device. After done, you may install the ersion 12.x.
Currently it is not supported for the administrator keep end user's QAT setting when trying to upgrade from v11.x to v12.x, I've forwarded your feedback as feature request to our Produce team for processing. Internal Suggestion ID#: PHANTOM-17243. Thank you.

        Hi Cherry,
Thank you for your response. I'm interpreting this that my end users will lose any customized QAT if we push out v12? We are on a non-persistent VDI desktop environment. The HKCU is captured as part of the roaming profile.
But, I tested an in place upgrade on my self and the QAT was retained. The registry entries under "Foxit PDF Editor 12.0\Ribbon\Ribbon Quick Access Toolbar" duplicate the entries under the V11 keys. The reg export/import process does not appear to be required.

As a suggestion, maybe a clean up routine to remove prior version entries to simplify where settings are stored?

Thank you for the update. What is your previous QAT setting? Is it possible to provide us the registry?
How did you upgrade from version 11.x to version 12.x and found QAT was retained? Which exact version of version 11.x you upgraded from?(It could be checked by going to Help->About Foxit PDF Editor)
Can you elaborate on "a clean up routine" so I could better forward your suggestion to our Product team for processing? Thank you.

Clean up = remove left over of prior versions such as the PDFEditor and PhantomPDF folders or any folders with version specific labeling. Over time this creates a structure of ‘dead’ folders or reg entries.
The entire v11 reg tree is still intact.

I was on v11.2.2. I created the updated MST via the customization wizard. Then ran the appropriate MSI command
            msiexec /i "C:\Installs\FoxIt\FoxitPDFEditor120_enu_Setup .msi " TRANSFORMS="C:\Installs\FoxIt\FoxitPDFEditor-V120_enu_Setup_FCT.mst" /qb /log c:\installs\foxit\v12log.txt

Screenshots of both HKCU trees below.

            Thanks!
